Dear MyLotters, Brushing your teeth with toothpaste is essential for good oral health. It will help to prevent gum disease and tooth decay.Removing stains and avoiding bad breath are added benefits of brushing your teeth. I brush my teeth twice a day,in the morning after wake up and at night before I go to bed.It is a good habit and I have been doing it since I am a kid.All the while ,I am using Darlie Toothpaste.I like its fresh mint. As for my son, I have been practising him to brush his teeth twice a day too since he reached 1 year old. Only he has not using a toothpaste yet as he still don't know how to spit out water. Do you brush your teeth twice a day ?? Do you think it is needed to brush your teeth before go to bed? Do share with me your opinions. Thank you

Hi Uchihaseymour, I can understand your point, sometimes when we really feel tired, we might forget to do something. But for me, although how tired I am ,I will always brush my teeth and wash my face, hand and leg before I go to bed. It has been a habit to me, and I just can get rid off it. Nowadays, I do the same thing to my son, always wash his hand/leg and brush his teeth before he goes to the bedroom. I did try Colgate toothpaste before.but I don;t really like the smell. I still prefer Darlie Toothpaste (original),very minty.

Hi Uchi,, Don't feel bad about this issue. It is not that you don't want to do it.It is just that you are too tired and forget about it. Then tell yourself nextime that you will always remember to brush your teeth no matter how tired you are.

I brush teeth once in the morning and once at night. When I was in primary school we used Darlie Toothpaste which was in fact called by another objectionable racialist name. After brushing my teeth I scrap my tongue. As for your young son you can use children toothpaste which can be swallowed. This is available in pharmacy shops.

Hi James, You have such a good habit, brushing your teeth twice a day and you even scrap your tongue. In my whole life, I never scrap my tongue and I am wondering how is the feeling after scrapping my tongue. Maybe I should try it one day and only then I will know the answer. I did saw some toothbrush has the scrapping function, but I never thought of getting those toothbrush before.I should consider get those kind of toothbrush one day.

Hi shia, Scrapping my tongue is a good habit I picked up from my mum when I was in primary. Scrapping your tongue is better than brushing your tongue and is more effective. Try both to compare the difference.

I do brush my teeth before I go to bed. Its part of my nighttime routine. I just don't feel right if I don't brush before retiring for the night. I also brush in the morning before going to work. Its a habit that everyone should get used to. Best wishes!

Hi bmorehouse1, That is also my routine to always brush my teeth after wake up and before go to bed. I just feel uncomfortable without brushing my teeth and just go to sleep. No matter how tired I am ,I will always spare few minutes to get my teeth fresher and sometimes I feel more fresh after brushing my teeth.

Yes, I do brush my teeth and scrap my tongue in the morning (before go to work) and before go to bed. It's very necessary. I do forget to brush'em before going to bed, lol..although I rarely do that. I do believe that twice is enough for a day, although I see many of my friends brush their teeth after having a meal. But, once there's this girlfriend of my late cousin who brushed her teeth like, 10 to 15 times a day? She got addicted to teeth brushing, and didn't feel right if there's still a tiny leftover in her mouth! Consequently, her tooth layer became thinner, and as she said it really hurts. So, she had to go to see her dentist to fix'em up. Happy mylotting!

YES in the morning, and YES before say 'goodnight'..LOL At times, I do brush again before go out for appointment. It is indeed a very good habit to brush our teeth daily. We should encourage our children to pratice good oral hygiene. I normally use soft toothbursh and tooth paste for sensitive gum. My gum easily bleed, so have to take extra care!

Hi Iriene, It is a good practice to have your teeth brush twice a day. I also encourage my son to brush teeth every morning and before go to bed. I don't like to use hard toothbrush, too pain for my teeth. I always get the soft toothbrush and it is more comfortable. Do you check out with dentist on why you can have a sensitive gum? Is there any thing you can do to prevent it bleeding?

yes it must be a habit! Hmm but proper brushing of teeth should be 3 times a day. I dont know but im used to it. Yes, we need to brush our teeth beore we go to bed, or after we eat. but after we eat, brushing is not applicable for me, cus i have a tendency to vomit all the food i ate. I dont know but i have a problem maybe.

Hi Ayebelle, I seldom brush my teeth after meal unless I eat some seafood or the food got stuck in my teeth. I did brush my teeth twice a day and it is quite sufficient. My dentist also advised to me to brush my teeth at least twice a day. When I was pregnant, I have to phobia to brush my teeth as I always feel vomitting once the toothbrush is into my mouth. That is a kinda of morning sickness. After my delivery, I have no more such feeling anymore.

Yes, I think it is compulsory for everyone to brush their teeth before bringing up the body on bed. It is very important for the healthy of our teeth. And also, it is preventing the germs to work inside our mouth while we are sleeping in the middle of night. I think do the tooth brushing twice a day is enough.

yep. I do brush my teeth daily, though it's one in the morning, and one after I have my lunch.. lol. when i was a kid, we were not required to brush our teeth before we go to sleep, that's why now that I'm an adult, I don't have that habit.. not good I know, but I have tried so many times to make it a daily routine, but my laziness gets the best of me.. hahahaha. I'm too lazy for myself.

I have this habit too Shia.. and I have to get this done before I start my day.. meaning before I even brush my teeth, I will not talk! when I got up from my bed every morning, I head straight to the bathroom, and have my bath and also to brush my teeth. As for my baby, I have started to clean her bum since birth.. and now with her 2 pearly white teeth sprouting, I will also clean them with cotton wool and water. I hope to instil this habit into her too, and she can have a good oral health.

oh Shia.. talk about grip water.. I have not introduce this to my baby girl.. but I think coming her age of 1 years old, my mum will start to actually give her that too.. I remembered those day, when my brother is still a baby (we have 12 yrs gap) and whenever we feed him gripe water, we will want to have a taste of it too!

Hi Cwong, I actually tried the gripe water before and I also love the taste. Sometimes when I feed my boy gripe water, he will ask me to feed myself too. So both of us are enjoying drinking gripe water everyday. So fun !! I used to have a free supply of gripe water from the parenthood magazine contest which I won few times. But now the supply is finished and I also stopped giving my boy the gripe water. Instead I give him some vitamin C to improve his immune system.

Hi Cwong, It is a good habit to get our body and face clean every morning before we start with our daily activity. As for my son, I started to clean his gum since he was born. I am using gripe water to clean his gum.Till now, he still consume grip water every day after his breakfast,I just let him drink 1 tablespoon a day.

agree! we have living bacterias on our teeth. if we dont brush after we eat, we are feeding them which can cause our teeth to be sensitive or getting tooth decays or bad breath. :)

Yes i have the habit of brushing the teeth before going to sleep. This is a good habit of all days. By doing so this will get rid of harmful germs in our teeth. Keeps our teeth neat and clear all the time. So i would suggest that please keep brushing your teeth twice a day.

Yes, I think brushing teeth standards should go like this: after meals and before bed. So in the end, you get to brush them some 3 or 4 times a day, depending on how many deals you might have during the day.

Hi, It seems you will be brushing your teeth very frequently everyday. I am just wondering if you are having your meal outside, will you bring your toothbrush with you too since you have a habit to brush your teeth after meal? For me, I brush my teeth twice a day. Only when I eat fish...then I will brush my teeth again to get rid of the fishy taste in my mouth. That is provided I eat the fish at home,or else I won't bring my toothbrush out with me.

Hello shia. I usually brush my teeth twice a day, but sometimes thrice a day as well. I think that it is good to our health to brush our teeth for at least twice a day. You feel fresh in the mouth after brushing. The germs would have no chance to grow. Take care, shia.

Hi, Thank you for dropping by. Same with me, I brush my teeth twice a day.morning and night time before goes to bed. It has been my habit. Frankly speaking, when I was young during my primary and secondary times, I only brush my teeth once a day ,in the morning only. Only when I started my university, then only I have the habit to brush my teeth before goes to bed too. It definitely make me feel fresher with a clean teeth before goes to bed. Now, I also practiced the same for my son. He will brush his teeth twice a day,.morning and night time too. We will actually brushing our teeth together, that is so much fun !!

I do not have the habit of brushing my teeth twice a day.I brush only in the mornings. One i went to the doctor when i was not feeling well that time he saw my teeth then he told me to brush twice a day.I tried it sometimes in the night and i felt my mouth was feeling very fresh during sleeping. It is a good habit to brush twice a day as it will keep our teeth white and gums strong.I will brush from now on twice a day.

Yes I brush my teeth before I go to bed each night. I also gargle with mouthwash after brushing my teeth. Yes, I think we need to at least brush our teeth before going to bed to get all the food that has collected on it during the day.

Hi, I totally agreed with you. We need to brush our teeth twice a day. Sometimes, I will brush my teeth more than twice if I do have a fish in my meal. I just dislike the fishy taste in my mouth. I used to use Oral B mouthwash, but now I have stopped using it. It helps to keep my mouth fresh and it definitely help to brighten up my days too. Currently, I am using Darlie toothpaste, I love its smell. Mint fresh taste. They have several flavours now,but i still stick to the original taste for Darlie toothpaste.

Hi shia88 When I was child, I feel lazy to do that, but now I brush my teeth 2-3 times a day! hehehe.. Actually, it's because my father. He always brush his teeth before sleep and he said it will make our mouth feel fresh and our teeth stay health and strong. He has white teeth and I love to see it. So about 10 years ago, I started my habit to brush my teeth before go to sleep. Now everytime I forget to do that (because I fall asleep when watch TV or do my assigment) my mouth feel bad, bitter and sour when I wake up. I brush my teeth after I wake up (sometimes I wake up late so I take a bath in the evening, but surely I brush my teeth and wash my face after I wake up), after I eat lunch and when I take evening bath. I brush it again before I go to sleep. Yes, it is needed! All the food left between our teeth will be fermented at night and it's the cause of bad breath and gum disease.
