fashions from old decades

Does any one else really miss the fashion from the 1920s-1950s? I love the idea of wearing hats for every occassion and having a closet full of dresses. I like the idea that people really took the time to look nice and that getting ready was part of the whole experience of going out. I wish hats and petticoats and everything about fashion from that era were still around today. Are there any particular fashions from the past you wish were still around, or any specific item of clothing that you really think defined a decade or that you identify with personally?

i really like history and was thinking the other day what a bother the old clothes were when one had to wear corsets and petticoats like what they wore during victorian times. i think i like more of a flapper look from the 1920s, plus i like the shoes they used to wear back then (and the jewellry!!)

I like a lot of the fashions from earlier years. I have a suit and 2 dresses that are in mint condition from the 30's. Whenever I wear them people want to know where I bought them so they can get them too. Some things have classic styling that never goes out of fashion. Hats? I never really got into hats. I have a smaller head and only things from the kids department fit, so I quit trying to find them years ago. I remember wearing petticoats back in the 50's, and I'm sure glad we don't have to wear them anymore!!! They were itchy and way too poufy lol. There's not one particular fashion period that's my favorite, I tend to find something in an earlier style and if I like it, and it's kind of timeless, I'll wear it.

I do love the bell-button jeans. And I wear them occasionally. But thats around the 70's. Wearing an old "Barong Tagalog" (its a Philippine formal attire and national dress for men) borrowed from my dad when I attended one occasion make me feel proud of myself and the Filipino heritage.
