While, I admit, there are a few good doctors out there, I would have to agree that most do cheat you. My husband has had a terrible pain in his left side for years. (15 or 16 years now, to be exact.) He went to the doctor back when the pain first started, was put through the ringer on tests, to be told that nothing was wrong. So, for the next 14-15 years he dealt with the pain. It finally got so bad last year that he went back to the doctor. A totally different doctor than the last one. His pain was to the point that it would bow him over and bring tears to his eyes. This time he had a CT scan along with many other tests. Without much though on the results, or should I say without spending much time going over them, he was given a clean bill of health. Then this year a totally different pain hit. His right side up under his lower ribs was where the pain was. He went through thousands of dollars worth of tests, and told he was fine. Amazing. No one seems to be willing to actually sit and listen to him. I know that he would not agree to see a doctor if nothing was wrong, but he did go. That says he was in a considerable amount of pain. And yet, they wouldn't, or couldn't help him.
In a totally different story, my youngest daughter came down sick this past week. She was running a high fever with no other symptoms. I took her to the doctor and was told that she just had a "fever virus". I was told to give her tyelenol and motrin and she would be fine in a few days. 3 days later, when her fever started reaching close to 105 degrees, I took her back to the doctor, asking for urine and blood tests to be done. IT turned out that she had a urinary tract infection, and needed to be put on antibiotics. She is better now, thankfully, but could have been better alot sooner had they treated her properly from the beginning.
I my opinion, doctors aren't worth the money you pay them. They usually tell you no more than you already know. Now, if you had a serious illness like cancer, then they are needed, but for common sicknesses, I don't even bother going. A person can treat their sickness at home just as easily. There are plenty of natural remedies for the simple things like the cold or flu!

This post is a little vague.... Sometimes, illnesses DO get worse if we don't take care of ourselves, and unfortunately, the cost of medical care is extremely expensive... If a doctor is making a recommendation, how is that cheating you? Was it a specialty physician that you had to follow up with? Could you offer a little more information plz?

Some doctors are only after of the money. They cannot do their job well because they are already counting how much they will earn from their patients. I hate that kind of character of a doctor. we as a patients really hope that they will help us to somehow ease our burden but they became our burden because the charge is too high or they give too expensive medicines which is not really that necessary. I was once a victim also, he scheduled me for a check-up evry two weeks, but the problem is it lasted for one year and 3 months, and evry check up, instead of just check-up fee, i still have to buy medicine from them. My mom noticed it already, that's why we go for a second opinion and this time, the doctor said that i dont need those medicine because i am cured. Frustrating right? i think, they just try experimenting some medicines.

I also experienced the same situation dear, a few months ago. Just because she saw me having a health card, she advised me to undergo in different medical procedure and to have it done there in the high end hospital where she's accredited. Ive done lots of tests, etc,,etc,,but good thing i didnt took her advise and went to other doctor to seek for another advise. Fortunately, the other doctor is one of the nicest doctor in town and gave me good medication instead of going to some procedures..

Other doctors sometimes really frustrating. I was also cheated by a dentist, dental paste with her is expensive. When we went to my aunt province just half of her price. Then she said one on my tooth need root canal but the new dentist says only dental paste is needed. Just get lucky we went for second opinion even though I already spend to the first dentist.
