Any good Thanksgiving craft ideas out there?

Now that we are heading for Autumn, many of us are preparing to decorate our homes for the holidays. Many have already started getting ready for Halloween which is just a few weeks away. Lots of stuff is available at the craft stores for Halloween but I have noticed not so much is there for Thanksgiving. It seems there is very little out there in the way of this very important American holiday. Does anyone have some good ideas for Thanksgiving crafts?

Mostly leaves or turkeys for Thanksgiving crafts. Dried and pressed leaves or some kind of turkey. What kind of crafts or craft experiences do you have or are you looking for?

I have the store-bought multicolored leaves, turkeys and candles. I decorate a simple wreath and diningroom table. Nothing special as I don't see a lot in the stores. This is why I posted in MyLot for some ideas. I live in the desert here in Arizona and so leaves are rare. We have some pine trees at the local park but that's about it. Thanks for your suggestions!

If the pine trees have pine cones that fall to the ground and you're allowed to take them, there are many pine cone crafts or just put them in a nice bowl as a centerpiece. You're welcome, take care.

Well Since I am Canadian I will say Happy Thanksgiving to you today. HEHE As for crafts for Thanksgiving I agree that there isn't much done for it. But here it is likely the biggest one for family crafts in my house. My extended family are too far away to share the day with us so we make sure we spend it together. I live on the Atlantic Coast and live in a very rural area. The colors of leaves are just beautiful this time of year. Usually we go on a hiking trail and pick up things we like. Pretty leaves and rocks. Then we come home and decorate with them. Printing out turkeys and using the leaves as feathers. Taping different colored leaves around a paper circle for a wreath. Leave rubbing and cutting out the pictures and taping real leaves on the wall falling down. Even a real leaf boarder in the kitchen. One real favorite is the rocks. I have an etcher and we take the rocks we find and paint pictures and stuff then etch the year into it. Then every year we take out the rocks and place them together and remember the years before. I think this is a great way for my children and I to feel some strong family union, especially when there is no extended family nearby.

What a nice idea! Painted rocks! I have seen a few of those in catalogs and at local nurseries. Thanks!
