5 day old baby has to have open heart surgery.

May God help baby Cooper & his parents. That really is a tough start and a harsh introduction to this world - for Cooper. Let's hope & pray that he will be ok. There's something about babies that just tug at your heart. Not that it's easy to see anybody suffer, but with babies, it's always harder. Their sweetness and vulnerability just melt your heart. But with so many advances in science & technology, I believe we can be a lot more confident today than if the same things had happened ten or even five years ago. Please keep us posted, Antiquelady. I'm believing that we will hear some good news soon.

That's really terrible. I wish Cooper would get well soon. It really breaks my heart when I see or hear that infants are suffering like this. I can't imagine what the parents are going through right now. It must be really hard seeing their son suffer like that at a very young age.

I have just said a prayer for this little baby. I hope that everything turns out okay. That is alot to go through for a new infant baby and for the parents and their family as well. May God bless this family with quick healing.

I had to have open-heart surgery when I was 5 years old. I was born 5 to 7 weeks premature and, while my doctor wanted to wait until I was 7 years old to do the surgery because then I would be stronger, at my 6 month checkup when I turned 5, he told my parents that I had to have the surgery then because I wouldn't live another 6 months to see my next checkup. I had a hole in my heart, a valve that wasn't working and one that just wasn't even there. They patched the hole with mesh nylon and one now one of my valves is a pig's valve. I was doing ok for about a day or two right after my surgery but, I suddenly started to get sick. The doctors only knew that I was bleeding internally but they couldn't find where and didn't know how to stop it so, they told my parents that the only thing they could do was to make me comfortable until I passed. They made an incision in my chest and drained the excess blood in an effort to make me more comfortable and the bleeding stopped. No one knows how or why, only that I survived. Miracles happen every day. I will keep your friend's family in my thoughts.

So sad to hear that! I hope the baby can survive. It would be too sorrowful for the parents to lose the tiny tot. It breaks my heart just to imagine the baby in pain as well as the considerable pain and sadness the parents are going through at the moment. Yes, let us pray for the baby and I hope God will give the grace to spare his life.

I will ask my friend´s prayer group to put his name in their prayers. They get together to pray for the sick twice a week at least. I´ll call her as soon as she get´s home from work. Hug and take care.

I am sad to hear that the baby is born with a defective heart. I hope everything is going on fine with him after the surgery. I will surely include little Cooper in my prayers.

Oh Jo, how sad! Poor little angel just made it into the world and is already struggling to survive. Bless his little heart!! Although it's right rough for him and his parents, let them know that babies bounce back much quicker than we adults do so that should give them some sort of comfort. And hope they know that all of us here are and will be praying for his speedy recovery!

Surgery for just born babies, it is very dreadful situation for every one. How would the parents are facing those operation moments.
