I've always been on the heavy side when it comes to my weight. At 1 time about 15 years ago i was at my lowest weight and actually wore a 2 piece bathing suit and short shirts and even a skirt here and there. I'm not a skirt or dress person. But over the years the weight came back and I went from a1 piece to a 2piece bathing suit to shorts and a T-Shirt every time we went swimming. I don't think it looks good when you overweight and you have 3 rolls on your belly to wear a bikini. The same goes for spandex pants or tank tops. Why would you walk around with your legs rubbing together and your arms flapping for the world to see. Do you think it's gross or do you think "If they don't care why should I"? Sorry if I offended any one

I was on holidays in Majorca this year and women of all shapes and sizes were wearing bikinis. Much flab was on view but it didn't seem to bother anybody.

People in Europe are like that, they don't seem to mind showing some flab. I should know I'm from Germany

The Germans and the Italians can certainly let it hang out alright. But on crowded beaches in high summer who gives a damn! My mum is 63 and still wears her bikini on the beach and she most certainly could not give a damn.

I don't care really if overweight people wear bikinis. It's really up to you. Don't be bothered by anyone. If you feel confident and beautiful when wearing those, then go ahead. There is more to you than your weight.

Yes they should.... In the comfort of their OWN HOMES! lol. I was always skinny as a younger girl, and i wouldnt wear that stuff even though i had a small body/frame. I think there is something to be said about leaving SOME things to the imagination!!

Hi missybear Good to hear from you again. Im a little over weight too. Wait let me rephrase that, Im over weight period..LOL According to what I am suspose to weigh Im about 40 pounds over. As for me I won't wear a bikini or short anything. I feel out of place and the looks that I get from people make me feel real out of place. I don't like being starred at any ways and to add to the problem..NO WAY..I think that people should wear what they want as long it doesn't look nasty looking..Have a nice day and keep smiling.

I'm with you. On vacation there was a lot of overweight girls in bikinis at the pool. They didn't seem to care. I think it bothered me more than them. I just don't feel comfortable showing off my flab. Nice to hear from you.

Let's not discriminate overweight people. If they are comfortable wearing two-piece, one-piece and speedos it's ok. Weight doesn't matter it's how you carry yourself and still look good despite the extra weight and bulges. Overweight people can still feel and look good and beautiful in bikinis and speedos.

I think over weight people have just as much right to wear what they want when they want. I personally don't like real skimpy clothing on any body type. I really don't want to look at anyone's everything and think people should cover up respectfully. With that said, that is my opinion and everyone is welcome to make up their own minds about what they are comfortable in.

I agree "To each it's own" but sometimes it's just to much to look at. So I guess I shouldn't look

Sometimes it is hard not to look though. Your mind can be drawn to things for many reasons. If you can control yourself, don't look. Or, if you must look take it as an opportunity to be thankful for yourself...

The fact that a lot of people feel like they don't look good in revealing clothes when they are overweight, or if the people who look at them judge them for it because they think it's inappropriate, is something we have learned from our society. Young children don't care too much how other people look like. Once they get older they become more and more aware of their surroundings and how we treat other people. What we feel looks good is different from 100 years ago, or even 10 years ago. Rubens woman were loved and considered beautiful once, it's all about fashion. I bet back then they would roll their eyes if they saw someone in revealing clothes wearing a size 6. Bottom line: if they don't care, why should I? People should wear what they like and feel comfortable in because their will allways be a group that does not meet the criteria of the current fashion not matter if you are tall, short, overweight or skinny.

Technically, just technically...when it comes to bikinis, isnt that a whole lot of skin exposed to skin covered ratio ? I mean thats what bikinis are supposed to do, but that ratio kinda goes out of balance right ?

hi missybear I am overweight and no I would never wear a bikini as I would be so embarrassed to have other people see my tubby] body. nobody looks good in bikinis that is extremely overweight so one piece suits for me. Why make people have to run away in fright over seeing a fatso in a binkini.

I really don't think that people overweight should be out running around in speedos, bikinis, shorts shirts, short shirtts etc. Yes I know that is kinda harsh for me to say but overweight people can look attractive and be presentable in cloths that cover themselves. Heck there are even the model figures that need to put on some cloths with some of the things that they wear too. I don't agree with that either. It just looks trashy. I am a little overweight and I wouldn't go around flaunting my body to others and I don't think that it is necessary for overweight people to be running around in skimpy clothing.

I personally wouldn't feel comfortable wearing a small bikini as I feel I am too big to get away with it but, I tend to get bikini shorts instead and then if going to a water park where I will be bobbing around on slides then I stick a pair od small shorts over my bottom half and vest top just to cover up a little more which in turn makes me feel more comfortable!

Yes, it is true, It really doesnt look nice seeing people overweight wearing bikinis. But all of us had a freedom of what we want to wear or do as long as we didnt hurt anybody. I dont mind other people wearing bikinis although they are overweight.

I am overweight (and losing!) and personally I wouldn't wear a bikini, etc right now. I don't think it looks attractive. But on the other hand, I don't think its anyone elses business if I did. I don't think anybody should be dictating what I wear because of their prejudice against overweight people. What never occurs to anyone is that actually there are thin people who look horrible in the clothes they wear! Unfortunately being thin and having dress sense don't always go together...lol... Quite often I will look at someone who has a great figure, and they are dressed in a way that really doesn't suit them, and I think 'if I had that body I would know how to dress it!' But again, its up to them, maybe what I see that way is their favorite outfit!

hi there missybear! i believe that they should if they are comfortable with it. some narrow-minded people might talk and laugh about it but really, it is their problem. if you want to wear a bikini and go swimming, then by all means, go ahead. there are no rules that say that overweight people should only wear baggy shirts or what when they go swimming. it is the problem of those who are looking at you that they do not like what they see. who cares, when you love how you look and feel good about it? and no, i don't think it's gross. i actually think that overweight people who wear bikinis are wonderful because they have the confidence that most people do not have. ^^

I have cellulite on the backs of my legs and I hate it but, it is me now and there isn't anything that I can do about it. I am not overweight but, I'm not firm and could stand to loose about 5 pounds right now. That being said, if I find a good 2 piece bathing suit that looks good on me, I'll wear it. If it is tasteful, a bathing suit is a bathing suit whether 2 or 1 piece. However...spandex on anyone is a no no. Gross! Spandex on men should be a crime. I don't care what kind of shape a man is in. Spandex is wrong, wrong, WRONG!

I think that if someone is overweight and they want to wear a bikini then this is their choice and they should not feel guilty or ashamed in anyway. However, and I hope that I'm not contradicting myself, someone that is overweight and wears a bikini well it won't look very nice for obvious reasons but who cares what the world thinks! There should be freedom for everyone to dress how they please and forget about all those models in magazines that sometimes tend to give ridiculous examples! Andrew

Honestly, I really don't care if they do wear speedos or spandex tops. To each his own, right? I just hope that they are really confident wearing those things. I admit I am not really skinny and I do have a belly but I still wear one-piece spandex bathing suits because I'm comfortable in it and I don't really care what other people say about it. It all depends on how you carry the clothes anyway not how the clothes carry you. :)

As long as you are comfortable its o.k.If you feel self conscious i would stop wearing those outfits. It doesn't look good but then everything depends on the person wearing them.

i had that time of my life, lol. and i had that time when i was confident wearing a ONE-piece swimsuit. that was when i was yet single and i was confident of how i look. as i gave birth and added years to my age (lol), i have also added pounds here and there. never had i worn even a ONE-piece bathing suit again. people may not care but i do care how i look and what a funny view i would be. also, never had i worn a two-piece bathing suit before when i had a slimmer body.
