Even when I was little, I always dream of going to Japan. I dreamed of going there because I love how they have emerged especially in the industrial side. How creative they are in the creation of robotics and how advanced their technologies are. I know that in the world, US is considered the most powerful of all nations, but for Japan, they say that they don't really need US, and does not really need to understand the English language because Japan is already an advanced state on itself. That is how some people sees Japan as a country of advanced science and technology. My sister was able to work there for a short time of 6 months. Although she was on the country side of the country, she said that its really different there. She would use mostly a bicycle to go to work, and that 7-11 stores have a bathroom in them! How cool is that! haha! Well, because thats something new to me. =) I love the food, the raw meat - sushi, sashimi and maki. The wasabi makes it more enticing! If I have the money, Japan would definitely be my first destination outside this country. What are your thoughts on Japan? Do you think that they are powerful already and really dont need help from other nations?

I hope that you will go to Japan on a lovely trip that you will find very enjoyable. Japan is one of the countries on my travel wish list that I wish to visit sometime in the future. I especially would love to visit at cherry blossom time in the spring time. I would fly into Kyoto and travel around on a train pass for week or two. My brother-in-law went to Japan for four months. He was on business. He told me how powerful Japan is and he doesn't think they will need assistance from other countries. I think Japanese is a very difficult language for English speakers to learn. Japan is meant to be beautiful and fascinating.

I hope so too! Thanks! I would really love to go to Japan and travel and never sleep! I think they are great people, and yeah I agree, its difficult for me to speak their language but I do hope that they still accomodate me even if I speak bad Japanese! =)

Japan is an ideal example for an indipendent nation. They worked ahrd to be indipendent and the deserve to be. We don't understand their technologies, because we won't try that hard. As far as I know, japanese people are not only very smart, but very cultural and traditional too. Their confidence is what stuns the world. they have a die hard moral and a will to do it on their own. So if Japan says they don't want any outside help, I think they are powerful enough already. Someday when I have the money, I would like to visit Japan too, and maybe get a chance to get in touch of their cultural ceremonies.

Yeah I think they have a great culture and they still keep ways to preserve it. They are so powerful that I felt that they dont need that much help from other countries. Their technologies are very advanced and unique. =)

One thing do should bring when going to Japan (especially Tokyo) is to bring lots of money with you. Tokyo is one of the most expensive city in the world. The cost of living here is 3 times as much as of any major city in the world. So bring loads of it. And bring also your Japanese-English dictionary as most Japanese don't knew (or little) English. I haven't been there but some of my friends are working there. Just my insights to this discussion.

Oh yeah! and that too! Thats why I need a lot of money before going there! I might end up in electronic machines or video games that will lose all my earnings haha!

Eversince I read (moreso when I watched the movie) the novel Memoirs of a Geisha, I was fascinated by the culture and places in Japan. It amazes me how Japan preserved their old and new culture. I have always wanted to see the old teahouses and the geishas in their full garb. I want to see a poetry in motion.

Well its nice to know that there is someone out there who shares the same dream like mine. i also dream of going to Japan since young, we have this show the Japan Hour where i am and it shows things about Japan, places and their culture plus the techoligies as well, its actually a place of complete balance where the do their best to keep on improving on their technology but at one side you can also see how they tried to preserved their culture and historical background, they also make sure that most of their tradtions are passed on to the next generation. as well as there places, i watch in the shows how some of the places there still preserve the hot springs and take care of their beautiful natures habitat. sometimes when i watch this show i feel like the place is like heaven in their cherry blossom festival is one of the thing they are proud of and the foods there look so fantastic. I wish one of this days i will get the chance to go there too.

I think I was able to watch a movie or something showing the cherry blossom festival. It was great! I also wanted to experience that. And most especially experience the wonders of their creations. =)

Oh I would love to visit Japan. The culture would be amazing. So different from our on yet so similar. The food good be a little too different - but there are so many "Americanized" places I"m sure I could make it without too much problems. I would have to learn to speak enough Japanese to get by - there would be my biggest problem - it could be difficult to learn even a small conversational portion of the language. It would be worth it to see the scenery though.
