Celtic Thunder

I started a discussion about 2 years ago after I saw a television advertisement for the group Celtic Thunder. These wonderful guys from Ireland who have the most amazing harmonies! On Wednesday evening, I was flipping channels on the television and as I got to our PBS (Public Television) station, there they were...singing "Danny Boy" acapella! Oh, it was awesome! I left it on the channel and watched the entire two hour concert that was filmed live somewhere in New York. As the program continued, I learned that AETN was having a telethon to raise money to stay on the air. They rely on patrons to send them money, because they don't accept advertisements. During one of these breaks in the concert, one of the hosts of the telethon, announced that the next caller that pledged $100 was going to get 2 free tickets to see Celtic Thunder live...right here in Little Rock, AR. The concert is this next Wednesday, the 18th. Just a day after my birthday. Unfortunately, the guys are coming as part of the Public Television's fund raising, so the tickets are outragiously priced! The upper balcony seats start at $40 each! Do you like any musical group enough to pay this price to see them in concert live?

carpenter 5 I too have heard celticthunder and they made me cry when they played Danny boy, one of my very favorite songs. they 'were so beautiful. If I had forty dollars and money to get to litle rock I would have gone, but nope could not afford it. that would have been incredible too. I Also heard a womens group who sang Celtic songs but I do not remember their group names but they were also very good. Here at Gold Crest we are honored to have a husband and wife team, Adriana and her husband Brad , she plays the violin beautifully and he accompanies her on his giutar and they are into all sorts of songs.they play our requests plus their own programs, and we have a sing along. its so much fun and they are so talented too.

oh those are so much fun! My son plays the guitar, and many of his friends do as well. They will come in and sit in my livingroom and play for hours at a time. One will start playing a song, and the rest will just join if they know it. Sometimes the girls are here and will sing.

I don't think I've ever seen Celtic Thunder perform on television. I've seen Celtic Woman sing on TV and they were definitely amazing. But I don't think I'd pay a $100 to see anyone sing. Maybe if I had money coming out the wazoo, but since I don't - no way Jose! :)

I couldn't pay that much for a concert. But those that were pledging were already going to give that much to the charity anyway. The tickets were just a bonus. One year we made a pledge to our local children's hospital. We did it every year, and sent in just a little each month. We got a family season pack to the water park. Free admission for all five of us all summer long pluf free tube rental for the kids. We were going to give anyway, so the passes were a perk.

Well, I understand from the television news last night that the concert was sold out. The tickets were more expensive than normal because they were a fundraiser for an educational program. People are many times more willing to pay more if they know the money is going to the kids.
