75 feet. This is wonderful news considering he was in a wheelchair for months before the operation and extremely apprehensive about the operation. It's a little more than a week after the surgery. This is so exciting because he has a deteriorating condition and he wasn't sure he could get better with an operation. The doctors gave him a 50/50 chance of walking and that didn't encourage him very much either. But now he's doing so well! Joy, joy!

Nothing better than a health issue gone in a positive direction. I am very pleased for your friend and what a huge relief that has to be for him. Going from a wheelchair to walking my goodness what a milestone!!! Thank You for the uplifting post. We all need a spray of Good News for a Monday Morning!!!

Ah yes, what a wonderful result. He needs the other hip done and now he should be encouraged that if he can walk a ways with one new hip, just think what he can do with 2?!

This is great news. Hope your friend continues to do well and is able to walk all over once he heals. I have a friend who had a hip replacement and she is doing very well. Would never know she had the surgery. She had an accident and broke her hip a few years ago. I can recall many years ago once an older person broke a hip it was almost a done deal. There wasn't surgery as there is today to help heal the patient. How times change.

Thank you, I hope he continues to improve, too. Everybody in my area is recovering from H1N1 so we need all the well wishes we can get.

I am glad to hear that. It no doubt is a great news for someone who regained this Godgifted ability. I am happy for your friend and my best wishes are for him. Just a small piece of advice for people who undergo hip surgery and who does not mobilize for long duration they are at risk for blood clot in lungs which is a very dangerous situation. So whenever he feels short of breath or feels that his heart is racing he should immediately go to doctor as it is a red flag and requires urgent treatment. I m not saying that everyone who undergoes hip surgery or remains immobilized will have that but its just a precaution and I am sure this is what he must be told by doctors too. I wish him the best of health!

Thank you. They didn't let him stay immobile. That day, had him sit, next day sit and walk. But yes, good points. Thanks and take care.
