What do you think is the secret behind the unusual aggression in Dravid's Batting today in Motera? Do you think its the anger for being dropped from the ODI team without reason? I know many of you believe he doesn't have a place in the ODI team but the results in the recently lost series to Australia would have struck a bell in your mind about how important a dependable batsman is in the team even if he is not the fastest scorer of runs. Dravid doesn't wear his emotions on his sleeves like Ganguly but surely he does express them whith his game. And today I could see the aggression in his play as he sored briskly to get to 177, his highest in a day yet. I hope he carries the fire in his heart to play a little longer tomorrow and get to the 200 mark. One should remember that whenever dravid has passed 200 he has scored more than the previous best by him. So hope he can get past 275 tomorrow if Bhajji, Zak and others could give him a little support at the other end.

Yes even i think there was a point to prove in his game. the way he played today made a statement and now it feels that if he was int he one day squad against the Australians, then there could have been a different result. He can be fast in scoring and also he can stop the collapse which makes the stroke maker in the other end a bit more relaxed.

Thanx for the reply and I think Dravid deseves a lot more than what he got for the board. Wonder why no Sachin fans respond to this discussion. Dont they appreciate a good innings played by another batsman?

Mistakein previous comment " from the board" in place of "for the board".

Dravid displayed a wide array of shots while getting to one of his faster centuries. The inside-out off drive in that narrow gap between cover and widish mid- off or that straight drive past the bowler, the back foot cuts or that lofted on drive, Dravid was simply unstoppable

I just think he was at his most fluent today. Dravid has been our most dogged and determined batsmen over the last decade and when the team is tottering at 30 odd for 4 you do not need any other cricketer to fight it out for you than Dravid. But, even I was surprised by his aggression today. I think it also took the Sri Lankans by surprise. I think this was one of Dravid's best innings in India. Cheers! Ram

ya dravid has played really well and dhoni and yuvaraj gave him good support , lakshman has quite disappointed , but lakshman has record of playing better in second innings. lets wish dravid to score a doublt century tomorrow..if bajji & jahir help him.
