Can you answer honestly?

Who here can HONESTLY say they stretch properly and every day? I work in a labour job, and constantly have back/leg issues, but I can't honestly say that I do stretch everyday. By the end of my day, I just want to shower, and lie down. I most likely wouldn't have this many issues if I went back to regular duties, BUT my coworker is preggers (Due SOON! EEE!So exciting!) so she has been placed on lighter duties, obviously, so this means I will be carrying the heavier stuff, which is unfortunately, the majority of everything we get in. So I TRY my best to do stretches when I'm sitting still, be it at my computer chair when we get a lull, OR on the bus to and from work (another good reason I take the longer quieter route...while getting odd looks from my fellow passengers haha.). I KNOW the proper stretches, especially the ones meant for at work, sitting at a desk, but I still tend to be too busy to do these (booourns!) What about you? Can you honestly say whether you do or not do stretches on a daily routine?

I am pretty active but I do also try to adjust my expectations to reality. I do not say that I have to do this or that stretch x number of times a day or week. But when I reach for something I reach further than is necessary. A friend tells me every time she comes over, "You need more furniture!" But I am minimalist about furniture in order to have more room in every room to walk around and be able to stretch as I go. My YogAflex rebounder sits in the corner of the living room where most people have a recliner. So whenever I think my brain needs an infusion of oxygen, I go there and bounce a while or run in place and do some stretching on that. I can honestly say I do as much as I need to with absolutely no guilt about not having done more. In your situation, I would just incorporate my stretching into the work routine rather than trying to save it to do later.

I agree about the Yoga ball. They make wonderful furniture and fold up to stash in a very small place when not needed. I use my body dome as furniture, too: http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/4108C13FRTL._SL75_.jpg

I didn't say I was saving it for later, I'm just not always guaranteed to be able to sit/stand still at work, and by the time I get home, too tired, just wanna slouch haha. And oh my GOSH! I KNOW what you mean with the friend! We had a roommate, and he wanted to get an ecliptor (spelling?) One of those HUGE exercise machines, and we HAVE room in the living room, what with having a couch, 2 love seats, a recliner and one of those poofy chairs, a coffee table and a tinier coffee table, we have room to WALK around the furniture, and still a bit of floor space to move comfortably, like when we're having a party and such. SO, he mentioned he wanted one of these things, and I said to him, "How about before you get it, you call it to a vote, I vote no, because we won't have room." He said we have lots of room. My response was, "Yeah, NOW. When you bring that thing in here, where will we put it? Plus if you're thinking of putting it near the washing and drying machines, you KNOW that Cat will totally hang her wet clothes on it to dry. Go ahead and ask the other 2 though, I'm just the one vote. You might win this..." He didn't, HAHA! But I really should invest in a yoga ball, to use as a chair though...Thanks!

I definitely don't. I was always taught to stretch, but I've never liked how it made me feel. Consequently, I rarely stretch, even before engaging in heavy exercise or playing sports. Unwise? Maybe, but I'm honestly a little skeptical about the benefits of stretching. Tennis player Andre Agassi used to be famous for his dislike of stretching and it didn't stop him from becoming one of his sports' top performers. He finally got into a stretching routine, but I've heard that he ultimately ended up blaming it for one of his serious injuries! More recently, I've read a few articles questioning the benefits of stretching which if nothing else at least shows it's a somewhat controversial practice...but I think conventional wisdom still suggests that stretching is a good thing that may prevent injuries.

I honestly say I do not make stretches only when I yawn. Mind you stretching while you are too busy working to earn money online.

HAH! Earn money online on this? I've accepted myLot as a hobby, with a benefit, you earn a few cents. But at least when you're yawning, those stretches feel more delicious don't they? Thanks for responding And have a good one!

i can honestly say i don't do proper stretching just the normal back arching and arm stretching when i feel my back or shoulders are getting too tense. i used to work at a home depot and we are told to do stretches before we go out on the sales floor for the day but i think i only saw one person doing them ever. they also stress proper lifting because i assume they get tired of paying for back injuries most people who've been working there for a wile either end up with replaced knees or back.

If only it was that easy, the back arching and the arm stretching that is...and I'm WAITING for the bosses to implement a mandatory morning stretch, we were work in the docks at a hospital, so heavy lifting, transporting, lifting above our heads (I'm also short, it REALLY sucks!Especially when the male coworkers see me, a short tiny woman, red in the face,( not me struggling, just a high metabolism and I blush easily, honestly? I get red in the face when I move a darn chair!! HATE IT!)so they rush to help me, which yeah I will take advantage sometimes.) But I didn't know that about Home Depot implementing that, it's very smart of them. Kudos to them!
