I wish I can find my interest faster. With current cluttered chaotic random topic, finding the discussion I want to join is tiring. Putting software discussion different from technology or IT topic is stupid. Separating between internet surfing and internet problem is stupid. mylot should be a lot better as forum. I have no interest of joining discussion because finding what I have interest is tiring. Even when I like technology, I don't want to see all category under technology. Oh wait, mylot do not consider cellphone as part of technology.............. If I want to see all the category under tehcnology I have to subscribe them one by one. Mobile phone, mobile technology, cell phone and cellular phone are all different topic, so I have to subscribe them all. It seems mylot divide the topic according to tags. NUTS !!! I am not going trough every today's top or new item to find what I am looking for. Even if I subscribe all current cellphone tags available now, I will still miss some topics if someone innocently make a new tags.

Why don't you go to another site, I think you are the one that is cluttered chaotic in your head! Nobody else complains like you do about myLot, there is nothing wrong with it! They do the best they can , and they have improved it since the last few years! You don't even make sense no what you are talking about!

Well, I already have another site to go. I thought I could get a good discussion here. I thought I could exchange knowledge like what I do on another site. I see mylot is promising site at first, people here are nice, they don't shout at you even if you are a beginner. BUT, it would be meaningless to share knowledge here. It is very little chance that the knowledge can be read by the people who seek it. And the opposite, you rarely get the correct answer from anyone who know it for real. It is likely that your question being answered only by small number of people. The one who know the answer may not realize that your question exist. I work in IT. Converting mylot to forum is not hard. If the programmer is good, it can be done in a week. I guess if mylot do not have programmer, it can take months. If converting is risky, having forum as a new feature shouldn't be hard too. This suggestion should increase mylot user. That is the reason I call them stupid. Who would want to go shopping to amazon or ebay if items categorized like what mylot do. Millions of items listed on thousands of randomly ordered topic.

It is true compared with blogs, mylot may look a bit chaotic and random, but for some people, this might be just where the merits lie. From the interests on the top of the page, you get easily interesting topics. Or you may focus on friends started or recent to find what are newly posted. You can also start discussions to share your opinions and experiences.

Forum is not blog. Forum divide things like Amazon categorized their items. mylot should be a lot better if chevrolet is put under auto and corvette is put under chevrolet. When you start discussion in corvette, people who monitor chevrolet will now right away, people who monitor auto will now right away. In mylot, it is unlikely people willl know you post about corvette if they only have interest auto and chevrolet, which is dumb. You can not expect people who have interest in auto to to add the topic one by one. In mylot, if your post about corvette do not contain the word "auto", it is very likely people who have interest in auto may never read it. Forcing to add the word auto in our post is dumb. Tag is not an option too because there is too many thing a post about corvette can relate. For example, your post for corvette can contain: corvette, engine, driving, hobby, leisure, car, auto, autocar, racing, chevrolete, performance car, sports car, vintage, restoration, problem, automobile, muffler, rust, start, cluncky, clutch mylot only allow 10 tags, most of people would miss your post. It is possible that your post goes unnoticed by people who do like corvette like you do.

I happen to like the way myLot is put together. It is so much easier to find discussion to respond to that any other forum On those other forums you don't get to read part of the discussions. You may get the topics but all you see is names. it does get easier as time goes by. Nothing good happens over night.

I don't get that. There are many kind of forum software. It still possible for the forum admin to mess something and make the user hard to post anything. phpbb is know to have cluttered topic just like mylot. If I search for support, support forum provide the best way to seek answer. I usually able to find the answer faster by looking into the category instead of searching for it. Search can miss. And if you see my post above, mylot tend to miss things. I guess you don't mind to have many unanswered post here because the people who really have interest can not see it (your post got pushed down by other post) and can not search it (you don't use every possible topic available in your post). As I said, mylot have a good system for increasing income, but poor when you really want to use it to discuss something.

Yes it is not a forum in the old style you are used to. Have you used the search bar at the top right of the page. It has tabs you can select and it will search mylot for keywords. Works OK for me and saves a lot of wandering.

Finally someone who dares to say how it is. It's a big clutter of topics indeed. I would prefer a real forum too, phpbb-like... Not only is this easier to navigate but it also increases the exposure of topics. Yep, I am totally agree.

phpbb is another mess of forum software. It only support one level of subforum. It would make the same cluttered topic with phpbb. Other forum software is better. Mybb and vbulletin are currently the top choice.

True.. everything is scattered... the interests classification never matters really.. In fact it serves no purpose in the present disordered way like u said "1000 interests for mobile, 1000 interests for computer - hardware.. likewise". Even after all this many discussions are started under wrong interests.. like someone ask about his mobile phone under the interest "life" and someone ask about online activity under mobile.. likewise.. Best way is to stop bothering about interests(lol)....
