Expired Tampons!!!

Canada

So the other day I went into my cupboard and took out a new box of tampons. I had bought the tampons at least three years ago, I like to stock up on non-perishable items when I find them at a good price. Anyways, as I was opening the box, I noticed they had an expiry date - and these had expired over two years ago. How can tampons possibly go bad? Each tampon is individually wrapped in a plastic wrap, so I can't imagine them being exposed to elements or other stuff from the outside. What do you think, should I still use these tampons?

theoretically NO!!!, you are not supposed to use things which are expired already. But many people still use these kind of things(other than food, medicines, chemical etc..)even after the expiry date since practically they won't get expired while the question about the quality is definitely an issue

I think you should throw it away. I'm not also using tampons so I don't know how was it like and how it is use. I heard that toxic syndrome is common when you are using tampons.

Tampons that expire wow gee they really try to get people to buy more of their products but well I honestly have had used an expired box of tampons and I turned out to be just fine same good ole tampons I would just ignore the expiry date its just a joke in my opinion they are safe as long as you dont take the time to eat them in the bathroom or something then id say nope not safe.

Wow, I don't know. I'd say keep them. But use them only in an emergency. When you have run out, and didn't remember or have time to go get more.

Well I know that all products have an expiry date on them, though I think it's only really there to protect the manufacturer's. How could a tampon that's individually sealed possibly be harmful? I don't really think it has any dyes in it that could change the overall? I'm not even sure what word I'm trying to use here. lol Anyway, I would definitely use it and wouldn't be overly concerned about it being toxic or anything like that.

I haven't used a tampon in my whole life, how is it used? Is it comfortable?

Most people are saying use them but for me I would say there has to be reason why the expiry date is there, I am very cautious about expiry dates and though this is not edible I still think you should be careful. I wouldn't use them

The only things I can think of that might possibly be a problem are that either the chemicals used to sterilize them _might_ have some kind of break down after a certain date OR they are simply trying to protect themselves because not everyone will store them sensibly.

Go ahead and use them or use them for something else. I don't think they are bad. Its only cotton.

Were these edible tampons? I'm kidding..I don't have a clue how they could go bad.I didn't even know they had an expiration date until I read your post. I hope we aren't about to find out there is some ingredient in tampons that breaks down after time and turns us into men!! I'm going to go check my box of tampax, my son said he thought my voice was getting deeper the other day.

Hi, not sure how you feel about a male answering this but I asked my partner and she said they will be fine. She used to work in a shop that sold them and during the stock checking and date checking they were never told to check the dates on tampons. They only had to check dates on things that went bad! She has told me that unless when you take it out of the wrapper it looks like iots going to fall apart inside you then it will be fine, she never knew about the date thing!
