I have...and I've just cancelled..about 5 minutes ago! I have done this before and then re-joined but I am determined to stay out of Facebook FOR GOOD this time. It is like any addiction, you have to wean yourself off it! Why did I do this? Well, I'm sick of people not replying to questions. The latest was that I was offering a football (soccer) ticket to another person and I wanted my friends to guess who it was...and no-one did so.. Stuff it I say, if they can't be bothered neither can I! It's much more entertaining on here anyway...oh dear, I think I'm addicted hehe lol!

I've not stopped of canceling, but I have thought many times to stop my internet participation for awhile, and then come back fresh. Sometimes, I'm cyber-jammed, but if I don't log in, I'll miss activities on Facebook and mylot. So, I'll see how. Perhaps I can stop for a bit sometime and just concentrate on the lot..

You are so right. And I sometimes find participating in the lot more fun than writing articles. Articles are fun too, but in that short spurt of joy, mylot rules each time and that's why I've been neglecting to update my blog posts consistently, LOL.. I thought of having 2-3 posts per day, but it's not working out there yet... since I'm always in the lot.

The internet in general can be addicting but at least on MyLot I can carry on with my typing, which is something I have always liked to do since school...and that was a long time ago lol.

Hi Janey, Its good that you are loving mylot now, well compare to facebook. I've been here for a month and never missed a single day here. I actually don't have plan of deleting it. I even had my pictures from friendster deleted and transfer all of it in facebook. Honestly, I talk to my friends there once in a while but I talk to them most often in the real world or even thru texting and calling to landlines. Though I quit on games from there, my mom is the one who manages it, so that's the reasons and why I am not going to delete it

Usually 6 hours minimum. But i can go longer anytime I want! Lol! What made you ask? :D Yes youngster tend to deal more with the real world and so as we. It actually depends on someone I guess, if he would deal with pc or not. Our youngest and only brother loves to be with his buds outside too, you can rarely him in front of it. If he does, he only stays for a couple of hours Anyway, i see you left a comment on one of my topic the other day. Try to look on it. I have something for you there

Hi! How many hours do you spend on MyLot (you notice I say "hours" and not "minutes") hehe lol. I agree it is best to talk to people in the real world. I worry about the youngsters not being able to express themselves properly, you know what I mean? My nephew Tom isn't techo-savvy at all really and it's great because he gets out and meets his mates, which is what it's all about when you're a 19 year old, right? :-)

I have a facebook account and I enjoy going on there talking to friends. I haven't had it for a long time...just joined several months ago. I haven't thought about cancelling it though. I have lots of friends and family that talk to me on there. I like playing the games also when I'm bored. I have friends that talk to me in chat and people that post stuff on my page. Almost everytime I write a status I either have some people that like it or they respond to it. Sorry you didn't like that people weren't replying to you and had to cancel it.

Hi! Oh, I'm not sorry, I got quite a buzz from cancelling as a matter of fact. Sad but true! The worsed part is not playing Bejeweled Blitz but I reckon some people cheat on that game anyway due to the ridiculously high scores they were posting! Glad to get away from it all if I'm being honest! :-)

That would be the last thing I would be doing because I enjoy myself with Facebook and I get to chat with my old friends I have not seen for like ages. It keeps me updated on the my friends status. Also, I love the games I play there so I will never close the account down unless it gets hacked or something.

It seems to me that you and your friends really like communicating with each other on Facebook. Unfortunately for me, my friends weren't that bothered which is why I cancelled it in the end. I'm glad it's been useful to you.

Hi Janey, I've been a member of Facebook since last year but only appreciate it most lately. I signed up to facebook just to be connected with long lost friends, former classmates and relatives local and friends. Since i am not even checking it and updating it i considered canceling it--but of course i don't know how LOL. My husband had the patience to make up my facebook account and put some photos. Now i am happy with facebook and no more thoughts of canceling it!

LOL

Well, if you ever want to cancel Facebook I can show you how lol. It's good that you have photos up there, a lot of people do that although I know someone who just posts photos of his nights out with lots of drunken people on it. Can't see the point of that myself. I'm sure you don't do that! :-)

I have never thought of deleting my Facebook page because that is the way I keep in touch with a lot of my family and friends that don't live anywhere near me and people from my church youth group. I can definitely see how it can be addicting though. I have considered deleting my personal Myspace page though. I hardly ever use it anymore. The only thing on Myspace that I deal with is my business account for my photography company.

Hi! I'm glad you are finding a useful tool in Facebook and it can be great if used in the right way. It does bring people together from all over the world. I suppose if I knew any friends that had emigrated and I was desperate to get in touch then Facebook would be marvellous for this...cheaper than ringing 'em up that's for sure! :-0 I can't remember if I have a MySpace account or not, it's that long since I've used it!

yeah i am not addicted to facebook. cause those in my friends list are not interested my post or comment and never replied back. they just reply when they feel like to which rarely happens and so i thought that it is just a waste of time. but for those who have friends who always reply and keep in touch through this it is a great to stick here. but not for me though. so i feel bored. i don't like playing games here either. i find it really boring to play games here.

Hi! I only had about 6 friends on Facebook and people who have 400 friends don't know them all in real life, I'm sure. That part of it I can never understand. Anyway, I don't have to worry about it now. Hoorah!

Hi! Have your friends from Orkut also joined Facebook? I think it might get a bit complicated for you all if you join both. Personally, if I were you I would just stick with Orkut seeing as you like it so much. :-)

I know that I would never have the guts to delete my Facebook, although sometimes just because of all the "drama" ("Facebook drama"), i just get sick of it after a while. And also? I figure that my true friends will contact me in real life, rather than over the internet. Don't you agree?

Hi Sorry for the delay in replying. I do agree that "real" friends would contact me via telephone or even by email, I don't mind that. Go on, cancel your account...it's great! :-) Only joking, you do what you like :-)

I personally dont have much use for any of those sites, facebook, myspace or Twitter..For example, Twitter..If you are a celebrity or someone everyone knows than maybe there is some merit to it but if you are the average "Joe", do you really think anyone cares what you are doing right now? (I think thats the opening question, or "tweet") I could care less, no offense intended. Facebook, to me is another waste of time. If you play all the games than I could see how you would become addicted to it, I only use the message system to talk to a few friends but could surely (and actually prefer) email. I guess its nice to see pictures of friends if they keep a gallery but again, I could and do live without it. MySpace is a place that I registered but have no dealings with at all and maybe have been there twice in my life. I throughly enjoy MyLot however. Its the best "socializing" site I've ever found and its approach to it works and is fun. I've made some nice friends here and if you make a few bucks along the way, all the better. I could go into the others today, as you did, and cancel my account and would never miss or think of them again. Hope to see you here for a long time to come..Don't let the little annoying things that sometimes happen here bother you. I look at it like this, The day any web site makes me stressed out or upset, its time to move on or go back to reading or TV to pass idle time. I use the internet for fun and relaxation, not stress and aggravation!!

Hi! What a great comment, thank you! I agree totally with everything you say and I hope I'm here for ever and a day too. I'm addicted already lol but at least we feel we are achieving something on here, which is totally the opposite to Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. I forgot about Twitter, actually. I registered with it roundabout the same time I registered with Facebook and I think I've used it once! What a complete waste of time it is..and there are loads of people pretending they're celebrities (a word I despise) as well. They should get a life and come on here lol :-)

well, once i want to cancel my other account, for a reason that i don't want the settings, but, when i try to delete that account and register next with the same mail, it would access to my old settings. so with that, i just created a new one and use that. facebook is very strict. :D happy holidays!

Ive have come close to canceling the face book account on a few occasions. My reasons have been more due to the stupid stuff people put on my page. Like what type of guy do you want etc. Excuse me got one Love him don't want another but it just doesn't stop some. Then we've also dealt with the ex stalking so I have literally changed my last name on the acct and set everything as private as one human can do. Only other thing that bothers me is the 5million app request I just dont have time for it.

Hi Sorry to hear that your ex has been stalking you on Facebook, that can't be very nice. :-( That is one aspect of Facebook I don't like either, kinda sinister isn't it? You do the right thing changing your settings and I agree that the homepage can be full of really stupid comments/apps that mean nothing. If I was 12 I'd probably love it lol!

I have not think of cancelling the facebook account, but after I created the account I logged only 3 or 4 times. All my friends are there in Orkut, so I usually go for Orkut. After been used to Orkut, I do not like facebook :( . And one more thing, the same set of friends is there in facebook and orkut also. I Prefer orkut.:)

Hi! Good for you that you are staying with Orkut. I had never heard of it since I joined myLot so thank you for enlightening me on the subject. You and your friends should make a stand and cancel your Facebook account! Believe me, it's like a weight off my shoulders in my case! Good luck with Orkut! :-)

Well, the way I see it is this. I was brought up to be polite. Whether it be a question face-to-face or indirectly on the internet, I would reply to someone who asked me something. It's like, whenever I used to get loads of text messages (I have no phone now, nor do I need one) I felt obliged to answer them all. Silly I know but it's just the way I have been brought up. I can't stand people who look at the floor when you say "hello" to them as well. That's just damned rude!

Yes, because I hardly use Facebook like that. I feel that I am just wasting my time there. myLot is so much exciting! I would rather be here than at facebook. It is kind of boring to me. I have an account, but I rarely go to the site. I feel no interest to this site at all.

Sorry for the delay in replying. I'm probably in a different time zone to most people on here (I'm from England) so please bear with me everybody if there are big delays. I know what you mean about MyLot. Last night I couldn't sleep because I was thinking of stuff I wanted to say! Facebook never had that effect on me and you're right, Facebook is boring. The games on there are submitted by other companies, there's no creativity as such. Certainly can't ramble on like I'm doing now hehe lol. :-)

I have thought of quitting facebook because of all the security problems with applications. I am frustrated that applications that friends add can access information that I put online. I consider this to be a huge security problem since I did not consent to this access. On the other hand, it is the best way for me to stay in touch with my diverse friends group over the years.

Hi! We used to text everybody at one time, didn't we? Is that not feasible for you now that you have Facebook? I suppose, if the people you know keep in contact with you it is a good way of communicating, the problems arise when people rely on Facebook too much for communication. There's nothing like a good natter on the telephone lol.
