Hi! I was just wondering if liquid medicine works faster and more effectively than pills. Just from your own personal experience or from what you've heard...because I haven't heard anything! lol Thanks!

Let me put it this way... the roomie just had gastric bypass and now has a stomach the size of a large thumb - and she can't take large pills anymore because they don't break down in her resized stomach - and never will - she will be taking crushed pills or liquid meds from now on. So, if they first have to break down, I'd say - liquids will work faster because they don't have to be broken down...

Personally I think herbs are great.I swear by New Zealand peppertree as a foot remedy, and I think you can't go past the famous homeopathic 'Rescue Remedy' for shock and stress. Persoanlly I think alternative medicines work better than most prescribed chemist based remedys but there are occaisions when antibiotics are needed if it is a persistant bug. I swear by Olive leaf and Andrographis remedies for cold and flu and think good clean water is a good way of keeping the body flushed through. I also think its important to eat well and avoid junk food, but a little as a treat doesn't hurt!

oops sorry I see I am off topic here. I think liquid works faster myself as it dissolves into the liquid of the body faster and pills have to first break down their enteric coating.

When I'm sick it seems that the liquid medicine works way faster. But if I have a headache the pills do the job like no other.

hello dear.. i think pills are 'stronger' - that's what my doctors tell me.. whenever i take my younger children to the clinic - the doctor would normally ask if my daughters are able to swallow pills.. 'coz pills are 'more effective' - the pills are solid medicine, whereas the liquid are less stronger - because the medicine is somewhat 'diluted', plus other processes to turn it into liquid form... hope this makes sense to you...

Ya know I don't honestly know the answer to this, I haven't thought about it. I'm going to guess pill either work faster or the same. Otherwise I would think that there would be a lot more liquid medicines on the shelves. Especially for migraines. Just a guess though.

Hello. It's not necessary that liquid medicine works faster than tablets/capsules. It is the way your body or system reacts/absorbs the medicine whether it is liquid or tablet form.

I am not really sure LOL. I would think that the liquid medicine would be faster in being affective. It would not have to have the time to disolve. That is just what I think.

yes,as far as what i've learnt from the books and my own experience. pills have to be dissolved in your body liquid, transfer into the blood system ,and arive at the target to take act.while liquid medicine is ready to be transfered. so if want the medicine to have a quick and potent act, take it in the form of liquid~~ have a nice day!!

Depends, really. If the pill is encased in a plastic capsule, it is released at a set rate. If the pill is coated (to buffer its more harsh effects), first the coating must dissolve. Liquids go--so far as I understand it--much faster to the bloodstream. Not sure, but I think straight powders are about that fast. I know that when I used to get migraines, if I took buffered aspirin, it took the longest. Non-buffered was faster, but B.C. Powdered aspirin worked in 5 minutes. The powder was bitter, but it washed down quickly enough, & besides, after a while, it grew easier to take the sharp flavor because I KNEW that within 5 minutes, I'd have no more headache! I recommend the liquid or the powdered version if you can take the taste of whatever med you're taking, for it's more swift action! Maggiepie WHERE'S THE REAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

I'm not really sure if there is some scientific evidence supporting one over the other, but from my own personal experience, it just depends on what is wrong with me as to which one I would prefer. If I am having problems with my throat or stomach hurting, I would much rather take a liquid medicine. The reason is because most of the liquid medicines made for these things seem to coat the lining of my throat and stomach, which soothes the pain or irritation. Not sure if that's really scientific, but that's my personal preference.

Liquids often go through the body much faster then solids. This goes for both medicine and foods. As a result more gets absorbed into the blood stream quicker reaching organs and other places at a much more rapid pace. So in short, liquid medicine is considered more fast-acting then a pill because it takes less time to actually desolve then a solid pill. Gel caps same princepel applies. They have a thin easily desolved shell, but are liquid inside allowing them to be absorbed more quickly then caplets.

Liquid medicines do work faster than pills. I take liquid Vitamin C everyday and I get a boost immediately. I am not a doctor but according to the medicines and different herbs I take, the ones in liquid form work quicker for me.....

I personally choose to take liquid vitamins over the pills. I feel better throughout the day and I think that your body can handle liquids better than pills.I have heard that your body does not process all of the pills and that a lot of the benefit is passed through with the waste.
