Do you use Adobe Photoshop?

Hi mylotters, I personally love Photoshop and I use it each and every day because I own my own graphics website with my best friend, we work on the graphics, layouts, coding and much more ourselves because it's cheaper that way. My best friend taught me a lot about the program but I myself learned a lot as well on my own because once you mess around with the program you catch on to things more easily. It's a very expensive program but it's worth every penny because it can do so much and you can make some very awesome graphics and edit photos among other things. There's still so much I'd love to learn on the program but experience with it will only help me out more as time goes on. Do you use Photoshop? If so what do you use it for, did you teach yourself or did someone else teach you to use the program? What version do you use? Do you wish they'd add something to the program that isn't there? Would you take something away? I personally love the program the way it is, I think it's wonderful and so much fun to use and learn new things. I'm interested to see how many people use the program and if it's as popular as it seems to be. I hope I receive as many responses as I think I will...happy mylotting everyone!!

Hi, You can find a lot of tutorials online and you can take out books at your local library if you have one near you. They can both be very helpful if your trying to learn more about the program. You can also learn a lot just by messing around with the program and trying new things out, that's what I did a lot of the time but I was lucky to have a friend who already was very experienced in using the program around to help me.

Photoshop is the best software available but is not available in a free version. A lot of people including young students who do not want to spend on photo-editing software prefer the many free software available on the net. two of the top favorites are Gimp and Irfanview. These are as good as Photoshop and are freely available for download. ven if you use Photoshop you can go ahead and try these also so that you get a feel of it.

It's expensive but I only have it because my best friend bought it and that's how we are using it. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to afford it at all, it's so expensive even for the older versions. I've used Picnik online but that's not that great of a program but many of the features are free, it's the first photo program I ever used and it's fun.

Yes, I still use Photoshop 6 that I have had for many years. I find that it has more stuff in it that I will ever use so I have never been tempted to update it to a later program. I think though, that if ever I have to get Windows Vista or Windows 7, I may have to update to the latest version, but I cannot be sure about that. - Derek

Hi derek_a, That's cool that you use it, there are many things I still don't know yet and want to learn, the program certainly has a lot to offer. If you ever do update to Window's Vista or Window's 7 than you will probably want to upgrade the version of Photoshop that your using but for now Photoshop 6 is fine, when I was using XP I used Version 7. However, now that I got my new laptop last week I'm using Photoshop CS4 because I have Window's 7, it runs very smoothly but part of that reason would be because I don't have much on the computer yet lol.

Yeah, it's great for editing photos and tweaking them as well, there are many tutorials out there that can help you in learning the programs. As I stated earlier I learned a lot from my friend who already knew how to use the program and was quite experienced with it. However, you can learn a lot just by messing around with the program yourself, there is still so much I want to learn on Photoshop it's only a matter of time before I learn.

The best part about adobe softwares is that imagination is the limit. Photoshop has a universe of scope. You can create, enhance and re-create any graphical image easily. And its easy to use and understand interface makes it even better. Just the basic knowledge can help you magically enhance any graphical image. I use photoshop cs3 as well as flash cs3. I'm also a web designer "in the making"! So I'm still learning, jeez; aren't we all!

Hi Mam, Well here is my response to your interesting discussion. I do use adobe photoshop I started using it when I was in 2nd year college when I was a member of our organization in our university named Animation Guild Philippines, well I study it by myself and also asked some friends on how do they do that, and I do search for tutorials on things. well I have used Adobe Photoshop CS2 AND 3. Well for now I'm still a beginner, because I just use it to edit some picture, color artworks and stuff. so for the add something for now its all fine... I love the way it is now. I hope I answered all your questions...

I've been using Photoshop since 1998. I currently use CS3. In the beginning days, I taught myself as there weren't really tutorials and video places such as Youtube to learn from. Throughout the last couple of years, I've learned new editing techniques through various tutorials.

I personally LOVE photo editing software. I do it a lot in my free time. I use gimp right now because I used it before I got photoshop, and I am not a pro, so photoshop was not that right for me. I went back to gimp. I have done several pieces from photo manips, full pictures [painted] to retouching. I can spend HOURS with some pictures and am always hunting for new brushes or techniques. You can PM me if you would like a link to some of my work :) It is all in my deviantart account. As for photoshop, I would LOVE to be trained on how to really use it because everything I have learned has been self taught through experience or reading/watching tutorials. It is a little advanced for me but I would not mind learning more!! :D

Hey, thanks for the response, I'd love to see some of your work, if you want to message me I'll send you my graphics website with my best friend, we run it together, we're still working on a lot since we just changed the domain name and we've had to transfer everything. We do everything ourselves because we haven't made much money as it is and it's expensive to pay people and we know how to do mostly everything anyways : ) Their are many tutorials online for programs like Photoshop, I had better luck just messing around with the program and asking my best friend Trina questions because she already knew how to use the program. They also have many books at the library which can be really helpful. If you have any questions, I can try to help you out as much as possible or I can ask her as well.

Photoshop is a great software. I use it occasionally to edit or resize photographs. I learnt it my self through tutorials on the web. Practically every web designer use it one or the other. I also use other simpler photo editing software available on Internet.

Yes, it is great software, I mainly use it for graphics for my website and making layouts for myspace profiles but occasionally I will edit photos of my own, my pets or family. I do use picnik at times, it's a cool program and most of the features are free.

I use photoshop for digital art. Painting and drawing mostly. I'm taking concept art for games in college so I use it everyday. It's great for learning color theory quickly and it makes the development of ideas quick and efficient. I taught myself through online tutorials. In a way you can say that various other digital artists that were kind enough to create these tutorials taught me how to use photoshop. I'm using CS5. I couldn't begin to say what should be added or subtracted from it. What i use it for isn't very dependent on know how to use photoshop for editing and such. I have a 21" wacom cintiq that I use to paint and the fundamentals I rely on are grounded in traditional art mostly. I understand masking, layers and some adjustments to hue, color and brightness. As a concept artist speed is important so to know how to adjust, move and transform parts of an image I created is imperative.

I'm still using the Photoshop CS 2 as of now. I did learn photoshop in my own in online and a few tutorial Discs. The way I learned it was in the fun way. I usually edited my friends heads and put them in other heads of other photos. But as I explored more in the software I'm not more into editing pictures in perfection from grayscale - RGB mode. I haven't touch with CYMK mode yet because I still need to explore from there. There are lots of techniques of photoshop. It has endless possibilities in picture editing and plus there are much add-ons now a days in photoshop. You should try the nik software. It is very superb. It is a good add-on in photoshop.

You have a graphic site? What's the link? I started of my graphic site four years ago providing graphics made using MSPaint. I had a very tough start with photoshop because it took me few months to get used to it. I used GIMP for a start and now I always depends on Photoshop to do layouts and graphics.
