Hell All,well many of us are vegetarian and many of us just eat every thing they find :) but my question is that Does Vegetarian Life make you much Healthier or not? because as we see there are more vitamins in fresh fruits and vegetables and it make you health more good if you used it daily. so do you think it can fully help you in life or meat is also necessary? if yes then why?

True, but there's plenty of food from other cultures both conducive and non-conduive to vegetarianism.

Actually, eating vegetarian is a more exciting way to eat! There are so many cool and different ethnic foods that are conducive to eating vegetarian. I've discovered new Indian and thai foods that I had never eaten before or heard of. You just gotta do your research! =]

Hi, zahidz. I always thought that it was more healthier. Because you are not eating any meats and preservatives in any of your foods, it appears more healthier. But, eating red meat is good for ones health. It is vital to the blood which helps with Iron. Leaving most of the meats out of a diet cannot be wise.

It is not EASY to substitute enough of certain vegetables high in iron for the protien that a human body requires to remain healthy for an extended period in time. Any Doctor will tell you this. If you choose to be a vegetarian, he will reccommend that you take supplemental Iron pills to make sure, because Iron is vital to our health. I have seen many vegetarians that suffer from Anemia and are skinny and sickly looking because of it. You cannot just stop eating meat. You have to make a science of it to make sure that you are substituting enough servings of enough of the special vegetables that are very high in protien. Even then it is risky and quite a challenge. Our bodies were meant to eat meat. We were meant to eat everything actually, and NOT eliminate ANY food group. It is supposed to be balanced.

Iron is found in large amounts in many vegetables, including dark green leafy greens such as Kale! With a properly balanced diet, it is completely easy and much healthier to eliminate meat.

I've seen more meat-eaters that are suffering from heart disease and cholesterol and obesity than I have seen sickly vegetarians. The ones that look "sickly" are not doing it right, or for the right reasons. (To be "cool", for example.)

I don't think that the difference lies in whether you are a vegetarian or not..But it is in the amount you eat and the food you eat. I have seen both healthy and non healthy people in both categories. So it becomes important that you take a balanced food whatever you are..You can get more protein in pulses and the same way in fish too. So both vegetarian and non vegetarian have healthy foods and non healthy foods..It is better to choose the food righteously.

Being vegetarian is absolutely healthier than non-vegetarian. The fact is, plants have far more nutrition compared to meat. When we kill animals, their thought processes are already stored in their sub-conscious, and that thought energy is there in the flesh also... And, this energy does affect our minds in some way or the other. Meat is also known to increase a lot of lust in the body. For me, I have never found meat necessary. When animals get killed, they go through a lot of fear and terror at that moment, and those energies also are transferred unto us once we eat them. But plants are not like that. Plants do feel, but it's not as strong as animals and plants don't have a sense of lust which animals do. So obviously, the animal tendencies of lust, and anger is not transferred unto us. Moreover, meat has no nutrition at all, and plants have all the vitamins we need. Vegetarian food takes care of overall health of the body, mind and soul. But non-vegetarian food, may only provide strength to the flesh, but not to the mind and soul. Vegetarian food is known to increase memory and intelligence also.

Hello cobradene, well i really don't find any veg which behave different than a non-veg. veg. people have also lust and anger.its not only the animal meat effect, its the environment they grew in so if you check the new research then plants has also feelings so will you stop to eating veg also? well not only veg increase your memory but also meat is good to make your muscle strong and make them work for you in hard situations.

I have read much about healthy diets. A vegetarian diet is perfectly healthy. I become a vegetarian at four years old. I am now a vegan which is not quite as healthy but is it cruelty free. I eat lots of fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds plus I drink soy. Vegetarians get enough Iron and Vitamin B12. I have to take vitamin pills to make sure as a vegan I stay healthy.

As a vegetarian since June of this year, I have had MANY positive changes in my life. Weight loss, a clearer mind, tons more energy (no need for caffeine!), more focused in life, and a clearer conscience. Also I have not been sick at all since making the switch! It is a proven fact that vegetables and fruits contain the healthiest and best antioxidants and essential vitamins to promote good health and a long and healthy life. Now, the key point on vegetarianism is DOING YOUR RESEARCH. You absolutely cannot decide to become a vegetarian randomly, have no knowledge of food or nutrition, and expect to be healthy, just by solely cutting out meat. As vegetarians we are not limited to living off of "side dishes," or bread, pasta, and junk food! There is a WORLD of recipes and wonderful ideas out there! Another misconception is that all vegetarians are constantly hungry and are super thin, weak people. In fact, it is the opposite! If you are eating a balanced diet, you are incorporating many whole grains which are the best types of carbs, which will give you energy, and keep you full. These whole grains are things like whole grain bread, brown rice, whole grain cereals, whole grain tortillas, whole grain pasta, bulghur wheat, quinoa, etc. These whole grains also contain protein. (In fact, did you know that MOST foods we eat as vegetarians actually do contain protein and that we get plenty of it with no problem or supplements? Meat is not the sole source of protein!) In addition to whole grains, another important food group is legumes. Things like all types of beans and nuts. These are very protein packed and also essential for a healthy diet. Another food group that is overlooked is fats. We NEED fat in our diet to keep us satiated and for health! The good fat, that is. The fat that is found in things like avocados, almonds, olive oil, etc. And of course, we try to add as many fruits and veggies into our meals as possible! It is very easy to incorporate all these food groups to create meals that will improve your health. For example- I make avocado burritos using whole grain tortillas, black beans, avocado, spinach, tomato, and salsa. It is very very tasty and also incorporates all the food groups that you need! It is also very satisfying and will keep you full.. Visit www.veggieboards.com for some help if you have any more questions! Meat is filled with fats that are NOT good for us, antibiotics, hormones, etc. It is harder for our bodies to digest, and also perpetuate the horrific slaughter of animals. I would much rather eat something that is better for my body, and that also does not perpetuate an evil industry, but something that is grown from the earth, and is whole, and natural. I believe a diet without meat is a healthier one, physically, and mentally. =] not buying fast food

All meat does not have antibiotics in it. I raise antibiotic-free lambs. I do not believe that slaughtering an animal for us to survive and eat is evil. I believe killing something solely for sport and not using all of the carcass for a useful purpose could be construed as evil. You admit that being a vegetarian takes a lot of work, because you are eliminating a part of a natural human diet that our bodies require to be healthy. It is very difficult for most people to do that successfully without becoming a scientist and measuring and keeping track of everything you eat. Most people do not have the time or motivation to do so, thus they end up thin and deficient in iron from lack of protein in their diet. I'm not saying it isn't possible to be a healthy vegetarian, but the successful ones seem to be few and far between. It is very difficult to do so successfully for an extended period of time without becoming deficient.

oh you are now a veg. good for you that you get very good results from it but as you are saying being a veg is a difficult life that you have to read all books and site to checkout the which veg has which vitamins and blah blah blah so isnt difficult to read before eat?? although you are now veg. but really if you eat meat once a week then it is not as dangerous as you are telling.yeah one thing people usually eat lots of fast food which make them sick and fast food include lots of meat in their products so don't blame meat for it,its the fast food or the way they fry it.so meat has lots of benfits in it so we should consider them also and veg also can disturb your health.

It is not that much work, you need to do the INITIAL research, but once you are knowledgeable it is second nature. For example, when I plan my meals I do not sit there and necessariliy count out grams and percentages of things, its just that my meals always will contain some sort of whole grain, protein source, a fat and a vegetable/fruit most of the time. In my personal opinion, it is worth the initial research in order to live a longer, healthier life, with drastically reduced sickness. I would rather spend a few hours researching on nutrition rather than spend months/years/a lifetime with disease.

It depends. Whether you eat meat or are a vegetarian, it all depends on the choices you make and what you decide to eat. Both sides can be unhealthy, and both sides can be healthy. It really depends on you getting the nutrients you need, only eating "bad" foods in moderation, and making healthy choices. You can easily be a vegetarian and have high blood pressure, as you just as well can easily be a meat-eater who is super healthy. It all depends on how you go about it. I'm personally a vegetarian and I have been for about the past 7 1/2 years now. And I'm only starting to learn NOW how to choose the right foods, how to not skimp out on iron or protein, and all of those things that I should have learned right away. So, it's easy to be unhealthy no matter what your diet prohibits you from eating.

Hello, Zahidz. I know vegetarians who are unhealthy and meat eaters who are very fit, so I don't think it's a matter of vegetarians being more healthy, but how people balance their diet. I live in Spain, and because the fruit and vegetables are so much cheaper and fresher here than in England, they form a large part of my diet. I also eat more fish and lean meat, because again, it is generally better quality and cheaper. Without even trying, I've lost about 20lbs over the last few months, so I would say my diet is very healthy. Nice topic, thank you.

Thanks for your comments,Feel good while reading your comments,so its mean being a vegetarians does not help you to live healthy its also meat.I also think that God made so many good things for us to eat so we do not become veg. and stop eating meat although veg. people argue this with some solid points but still non-veg is more good than veg i think :)

Actually I don't think being vegetarian is healthy because we should eat a meat to sustain the highest protein allowance that we needed. If we dont eat meat, we can be easily get tired and weak. But I dont know what is the idea of all vegetarians. Maybe they have the substitute of eating meat.

Vegetarian life style is very healthy in many aspects as you eat a lot of vegetables! People that aren't vegetarians usually end up consuming processed foods, and red meat which are really high fats. However if the person who is vegetarian doesn't lead a balance diet, of things to substitute for protein etc. Then they may be at the disadvantage. You can't just live off of vegetables, I have actually heard of vegetarians being more likely to get parasites, and feel weaker due to lack of nutrition.

you are right snafushe, veg. is not only thing which we have to eat and being a veg. also doesnt make you healthy and also people think that meat comes from killing animal but it is necessity of our life so we must use it.it add the strength in our body

Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, have their own composition of complete diet. People who dont like meat, dont take it, but they take some other vegetable that substitutes, or compensates the lack of that meat content. A complete healthy diet, has not yet been discovered yet. You can come up with a list of food items, their calories level, what amount they add up to support a daily life, but it is all facts. When you want to eat something, why should some third person stop you from eating that? So my answer is this. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, can be made healthy.

vegetarian or non veg health lies on your food habits. as you say your diet is friuts or boiled healthy vegetables it is ok. but your food has oily items, cheese, burger, pasta, etc then no diff in vwg or non veg. because i am vegetarian yet my weight so high... so eating food containing fats it is better to eat nono veg.

be it vegetarian or non-vegetarian diet bot can be non-healthy if they are not balanced ones. vegies usually suffer vit. B12 deficiency (found more in non-veg).where as meat eater are more prone to cancer, heart diseases etc.so each of them needs to me modified for a healthy outcome

In general, probably. Not because being vegetarian is a healthier life choice or anything though. But because the majority of we omnivorous types tend to go in for the whole fast food fried in a half quart of oil type stuff. Which isn't healthy, not because it's meat. You cook anything in that much oil and it's not going to be good for you. Though in most cases the result is delicious. Of course I'm one of those people who thinks it perfectly natural to eat meat. As for chemical transfer and whatnot. Personally, I think that's something a crazed individual started to scare people into seeing things their way. Of course even you vegetarians aren't safe. Potatoes cause cancer, again. They probably won't in a month, but they do again for the time being. This time though, you only have too cook that at too high a heat, it's not as deep fried specific. Of course I may have my facts backwards because I don't really care. I"ll eat what I think tastes good and not eat the things I don't like.

No, I don't think so. I think our body needs meat. It was designed to eat and digest everything, not just vegetables. I do think that each person's body is slightly different, and some can eat more meat or more veggies than the other. But I have never seen a healthy looking vegetarian. I think it is very difficult to get all the correct proteins our body requires without eating at least a little bit of meat. However, I will say, that I think Americans eat far too much meat, more than they require, they just like it. And I live in North America, by the way....Canada. I agree with you that we do need fresh vegetables and fresh fruits. Yes, they are very good for you. But humans are OMNIVORES, so we can eat everything from all food groups and we should not cut any of them out completely. We should be eating a balanced ration of all of them.

Well i dont believe it is healthier to be a vegetarian, no mater what type of lifestyle you choose you will lack some important nutrition factors. Vegetarians often have a hard time covering the needed amount of fat and proteins needed oppoesed to people who eat a combination of the both... Again it also depends on if they are vegetarians but touch diary products, or if they touch fish products etc.

No, being a vegetarian doesn't give you the ingredients that you get from eating meat, like iron. While I understand there there are many reasons why you may or may not eat meat, it is important to realised that humans have always eaten meat when we were in primitive times. Can you imagine a lion not eating meat? No. They will die. So therefore they have to eat meat. While we may choose not to eat meat, many of our basic ingredients come from meat.
