Making coleslaw - creamy or not?

What's your preference? There are literally hundreds of different ways to make coleslaw. Mayo based. Vinegar based. Red cabbage. Green. With peppers, onions or just carrots. Personally, I am extremely particular about coleslaw. I very rarely order it when dining out because you just never know what you're going to get. I don't even like my own mother's! lol. (sorry, Mom!) I've settled on my own version of the coleslaw that they make at the Hardrock Cafe. To me it's hands down the best I've ever had. Even better after sitting a day if not 2! Here's the recipe if you'd like to try it: http://www.recipezaar.com/Hard-Rock-Cafe-Creamy-Coleslaw-89181 Of course, I don't used pre-packaged slaw mix. I cut my cabbage by knife. So.....how do you like your slaw?

I prefer creamy over the vinegar kind. I have made it and I made it creamy, but to me my favorite cole slaw is KFC coleslaw I have always liked that and I have not tasted any including my own that taste better to me than that. Maybe because it was the first coleslaw I ever had, and the only one I had for many years so maybe that just defines coles slaw for me.

I like mine creamy with some shredded carrots in it.....I don't like the vinegar slaw that so many really like...and I love my own...adding a little sugar makes it almost sweet and sour!

Hi, veromar. I like my coleslaw to have red cabbage, onions, celery, carrot, vinegar and the sweet condiment that goes on it to make it sweet. I don't like Captain D's coleslaw. It tastes very dry. I will never buy coleslaw from them again. I love KFC's coleslaw. It tastes just right! I love to put my coleslaw in the freezer so that I can eat it in 30 minutes. It tastes so refreshing then. I think I made coleslaw many years ago, but I don't know how it came out. I will have to make it again to see how it will turn out this time.
