What do you do with all these toys after Christmas?

My 10 month old has more toys than he will ever need after this Christmas. What are some ways you help calm your clutter of toys? I'm new to this, ha ha! I know some people give away/donate their old toys to make room for new which I think is a good idea, and I will probably do that each year, but of course they are all new now! I've looked online for storage solutions and they are all so expensive!

I use to put more than half of their toys in a tote and then after a month or so I would wait until they were asleep or out of the house and would rotate the toys from the totes with the toys in their rooms. They thought they kept getting new toys. It was a good way to control the toy clutter at the time too.

If you can, you can box them up, and squeeze in somewhere roomy. So, you won't have to pay anything for it. Otherwise, you can sacrifice the joy of your baby, sell some of those toys on ebay, or other online garage sale places to make some bucks.

I used to keep a box and mark it 'rainy day' toys. Then when the kids got bored they could play with something different instead of having so many toys floating around that they couldn't choose what to play with. It kept a lot of toys out of the way, and gave them something totally different for when they were bored. Any toys that they grew out of got passed down to cousins, or friends with smaller children.

I do a little bit of everything with our toys. If we get new ones for christmas that i know my kids won't play with or that they already have then I put them on a shelf for regifting. That way if we need a quick birthday present or something like that then we have stuff on hand. Their old toys that they don't play with anymore or they have outgrown either get passed down to younger siblings or cousins, get put out for yard sale or we drop them off at the salvation army.

Get rid of them!! They multiply and take over the house!! Just joking! I tried all sort of things to get the toy situation under control but nothing worked. Fortually my kids are older (oldest almost 18!) but one thing I did when the boys were babies was to put away a few things then when the kids were bored or it was one of those weeks where rain, and colds were around I would take out the hidden toys and give them to play with. Things that hadn't been seen for a couple of weeks became new and excititing agian! I had three boys in a row so they all played with the same things and toys were handed down. When we moved this past spring I found a box of toys from when my 18 year old was a toddler, he has cleaned them up and uses them as displays in his room!! My problem is my youngest is a girl and she has enough stuff to start her own toys store!! What to do?
