I do not take bags when I go super market. Some of them offer plastic bag for you. It is convenient style. The use of plastic bags is much more rampant in the market than paper bags. However paper bag is good for environment protection and recycling. Do you like to choose plastic or paper bag?

Every time we go to the groceries, we have our own cloth bag. Its durable and can be re-use now and then. We have five of it and been using for quiet some time now. If it gets dirty, then its easy to wash. Scientist have find a way to make plastic bags easier to decompose but only few have making plastic out of these technology. I just hope that it become available sooner. Paper bags are good but are not durable and most of it are used once only.

Hi, kevinll. When I usually will go shopping at any store, I will receive plastic bags to put my groceries in. When we had an Winn Dixie many years ago here in our town, we would have paper bags. I did not like these bags because they tore too easily. I know that the Shaw Base has paper brown bags. If I would use any kind of paper bags, I would make sure that I had only light products in it to keep from the bag bursting. I don't take bags with me to the supermarket either. I know that they have shopping bags that you can take to the grocery store. They are made out of cloth and linen. Most older people carry these bags that I have noticed.

Paper or cloth bags have been compulsory here for nearly one year. The only way we can use plastic bags is if we puchase them from the supermarket. They have to be biodegradeable plastic. Most of us use cloth bags. I take eight of them with me for weekly food shopping.

I would probably pick the paper bag. I feel a little bad about it when I pick plastic. And plus, we're more likely to re-use paper bags at my house than plastic bags - for garbage, good will donations, and so on. Although if I'm buying something small, I'll try to just shove it in my purse to save myself the trouble of even using a bag to begin with. Eventually I'll probably get one of those eco-friendly re-usable bags, though.

I usually ask for both when I shop.It makes it stronger.I like to use the plastic bags for garbage bags,so it's like,I'm recycling them.If I just use plastic the bag breaks.

Yeah, they've got those at my favorite market. I always choose plastic, unless I planned to go the the store beforehand. In that case, I have my personal, reusable bags with me.

I do take my own canvas bags but I don't mind getting the occasional plastic bag as I use them to line my waste bin inside, I don't feel bad about that because I would have to buy plastic bin liners anyway as the garbage men would not like everything in bin just to be thrown in as is...

Paper bag! but if there is another choice I would pick the traditional one in the Philippines the "BAYONG" it holds more and it is environment friendly, it is strong, the thing about this Bayong is not too fashionable that's why teenagers or other citizens here except old ones don't use it because they think they look like there grandfather and grandmother unfashionable. But I think if some here in the Philippine produce this kind of bayong that can be fashionable it would be a great way to diverse the use of plastic because there is a fashionable Bayong! Bayong is made of coconut leaves :)) so it is strong! or a bamboo splints!

I usually use plastic bags, but I use them for a long time. I use them for shopping until they get ripped in some places, then I story garbage inside them and when they get full, throw away into dumpster. I try to buy bio-degradable bags, if such are available.

i would prefer raper bags than plastic bags even though plastic bags are more convenient to use than paper bags. paper bags are more suitable for the environment and these days we have to solve the problem of environmental pollution than taking into account the convenient usage of plastic bags which are the main environment pollutants.so lets hold our hands together for the irradication of plastic bags.

Washington D.C. now charges 5ยข per bag if you don't bring your own and the store has to supply them. Virginia (where I live) and Maryland may follow suit soon. When it was available, I used and reused paper bags and got paid per bag. Paper bags held more and didn't spill the contents all over the car because they stood up better than plastic. Paper is pretty much history in this area now. I currently use plastic bags instead of bringing my own, because I do recycle them -- perfect for scooping the litterbox and disposal.
