How fast are you going?

Are you speeding? - Speeding in life, how fast

Whether you're just out of school, and you're in the starting block of your life, or currently in the middle of the rat-race, trying to establish your career, your family, or your life, have you ever wondered how fast you're going? If you were in school, did you ever think, I'd be happier if I could finish this semester, or happier if I could just finish and graduate. Or I could relax a bit if I could just get a job, or if I could just get that promotion, or if I could just quit my job and retire. Or did you tell yourself after this year, I'd breath easier. You just keep going and going to the next obstacle, the next hurdle. Or did you at anytime just eased up on the gas and stopped, and smelled the roses? Are you still going right now? How fast are you going?

I never thought of life as a race or a competition. maybe that's why when ever I thought I wouldn't like doing a task I just didn't do it . if there were a fight for things , I would just let the other guy have it. so school never felt like a race to the finish. And now that school is out, I have a job where speed is good but being accuracy is better! I'm both.I have always stopped to be in the moment and enjoy it.

Right now, I'm taking things one step at a time. I may be at a slow pace but I try to digest every lesson that comes my way. At present, I'm at the latter part of my school days. I do have my short-term goals as well as the long-term ones but I'm not rushing things.

Not fast enough, thats for sure! At last thats how it feels right now. Its my second year the the university and while I enjoy this time. I also would like to just get over it so that I don't have to worry about any of those studies or exams and so that I could just get to the real life. Finding a job and/or doing the things that I have wanted to do for the past 20 years.. I obviously don't want my life to go by just like that but right now.. I wouldn't mind if I could just finish school tomorrow or next week just so that I'm done with it.. even if it means losing plenty of nice memories that I will probably have from the next 1 and a half years.. :S

Oh believe me Takashy, you should enjoy you're life right now. I've been to where you are right now, and one of my regrets is that I didn't enjoy it some more. Life will come whether you like it or not, so you should make the most of where you are at right now.

Well - I've always tried to take things ones step at a time... but sometimes life just doesn't give you that option... but even in the middle of the races... I have noticed that the roses always do smell nice :) Now... it took me some time... but I finished (high) school... which honestly for awhile, I didn't know whether or not would happen... it took a few years but I found the job, I found the husband, I had a beautiful little girl and now I have the house. Ahhhh... time to relax??? Right? No... now that I have all my "dream" crap - now its oh, the roof is leaking, oh, the waterline just busted, oh, I have 5 dripping windows, oh the dog ate the carpeting... and so on and so forth. I think my life was destined to be hectic... but I also know that if there is a God in Heaven - he doesn't give you anything you can't handle. So even when I'm down right BEAT - there's always something close by that gives me hope and a sense of peace - whether it is stopping to smell the roses, or seeing a bunch of elk in the field... listening to my daughter laugh or whatever :) Nice post Bouncey!

Thanks Shell. Not only will God give you something which you can't handle, I think you've been made a product of your environment, or your own experiences. And I think, you are made a better person for it. From your posts, I know that you've gone through a lot Shell. Which if you think really, not a lot of people can handle. And that has made you tough as you are! I would like to surround myself with people like you.

Aw - thanks Bounce :) Sometime's life throws you on the bull - just grab those dam horns and hold the hell on! It may be scary - but it'll all be worth it in the end :)

Hi Bounce. I am one of those people that have to make he effort to not do that. I used to be like that..always in motion, always trying to reach the next thing, whatever that maybe..what I found was less time to enjoy where I was and what I already had. Also it makes it harder for the people that love you to stay in step. Now I do what I can do and savor those things and people I slowed down for.

Could it be possible for some people to be incapable of doing that? Slowing down and enjoying where you are and what you already have? I have a suspicion that I am that kind of person, still. I will work on that though, maybe this year.

When it comes to human behavior I don't think incapable I think unwilling..And there is nothing wrong with that..as long as we are happy with where we are at.

I can't estimate how fast I am going. I feel as if I'm going through the motions: waking up, getting ready for work, going to the office, doing my job and going home to my place in the city. Going home to the province every weekend. I feel so mechanical, so maybe I'm going at a normal rate, not too fast nor too slow. When I was in school, I took my time and really enjoyed higher learning. I also learned a lot about life outside the classroom.

Hang in there arystine, I think I know what you're feeling. I have days like that. Sometimes I think you just need a new perspective to get your 'groove' on again. Just a suggestion, maybe it's time to pick up a new hobby, or a new interest. Just so you can have an appreciation of what you already have.

whew.. this past few months i have been very impatient about how fast am i going in my life, all i wanted was result, and i have been very disappointed that i am not getting what i expected.. and i came to a point when i didn't realize that much that i stopped... i'm upset and i didn't care anymore about what is really going on... back then, i make myself busy through playing any online games, ps2 games, watching series(PRISON BREAK) and just recently, i came to watch a reality show(BIG BROTHER), and thanks heaven by watching and playing i realized something.. that something is that I have to look at life as if a game, the game has rules that's why i have to play within it and excel at each challenge, if i fail it, i can do it again and do better and even excel in it if I really WANT to.. life also has many challenges like what BIG BROTHER do by giving HOUSEMATES a weekly task.. in my life, i have everyday task to do, and i must live within the rules of reality show.. and like michael scofield(in PRISON BREAK)i have to excel in everything i do for my love ones and be willing to sacrifice everything for the good of everyone... i don't worry now how fast am i going.. the important thing for me now is i keep on moving forward, doing my best and have fun in the challenge to excel at every field i choose to go through... RULE is I must not be afraid of FAILURE..

life is ongoing journey every day is new start. As per me to wait a particular destination and then start to be happy is just the wastage of the precious moment which we loose while reaching the destination.

I'm going nowhere as fast as humanly possible. I've lost my career, craft, health, sanity, liveleyhood, home etc over and over BUT I'm back on my feet again and making progress. Since I don't want to move in any particular direction, and just seriously want to get by on hope before I expect greater rewards and long term stability down the line, I suppose that's why I'm going nowhere except for where I'm at. I won't step off this stepping stone and onto the next again, until it stops wobbling.
