mylot reputation...

Is there a way to find out who rated our responses positive or negative? I just wondering because there are a lot of members who've been around for awhile in this site but only have a 8 or 9 mylot reputation. I review some of their replies and some are very straightforward in their opinions but it's not offensive. Could it be that there are people here who only want to hear what they want to and if your opinion differs then they rate you as negative?

There is no way to know who rates what or how they rate it. I know that we can only rate each user 11 times in a 24 hour period and that new users canoot rate until at least, maybe more, until they reach 100. I also think that users with a higher number of posts need more plusses to make them go up. I am also very aware that when I tumbled exactly a year ago it was thanks to several users but a huge amount of others trying to push me back up is taking a long time to show any results. They send me PMs asking me why it takes a couple of months to see mine shift but I cannot give them a response because I have no idea and not found anything anywhere to explain it I see many Lotters who do not deserve the star that they are burdened with but nothing seems to make it budge

Hi Mysdianait. Thanks for dropping a line. This thread is somewhat dedicated to your rating and a few other whose still an 8 or 9. It's just frustrating to work really hard for that 10 only to go down for no reason at all except "Maybe" of some members who don't agree to what we have to say.

no they wont tell you. they figure people will retailate but unfortunately like all honor systems it gets abused from time to time.. it doesnt have much to do with time here (after you start getting stars i mean.. you hae to have X amount of points before you get one so that would be an exception) but more like they have been more active (point amount) therefore may have pissed people off more (unintentionally or intentionally) or been around for the trolls that attack every now and then to have struck them a few times.. sure it bugs ya but you have to just ignore and try to get it back but its hard once its gone to get it back up again.. i have found that if you stay away from the religion area or topics you seem to not run into as many trolls or just people that dont agree and therefore are rude enough to rate badly based upon you not agreeing.. i personally rarely rate anyone badly and if i do it was if some one was verbally attacking another person or leaves like 1 or 2 words as a reply or spam.. but i dont know if its my lack of activity on here or what but i havent seen much of any of that lately.. maybe im lucky

I have posted twice in religion and never, or maybe once, in politics in the whole of my almost three years here but that has not stopped mine going down. If they want to get ya they will wherever you post

yeah but the prob with saying what discussion is what if there was only one reply or you replied to it therefore you know what you said pissed off some one (probably assuming the original poster) if everyone got like 10 replies to every discussion then pointing out what discussion wouldnt be so obvious but some like me have ones with 0 for over a year due to picking a interest i didnt realize was a double of another one and that the one i picked had no one ever go to it where as the other did so you would never see it unless you looked for it or knew me. i agree it really sucks when your star goes down.. my first time was when i was opinionated about religion or had posted something controversal but not rudely.. i posted like crazy to get it back up then got hit down again (not sure if it was tied to anything specific that time) but then i looked around at all the people that have really gotten screwed by trolls and stuff and figured a 9 isnt so bad after all and stopped trying to worry about it

In all my 1381 posts i only rated one negative. And that was a long time ago. That's why it would be a lot better if we are at least aware which among or posts got a negative comment. It really bugged me when my rating went down to 9. I suppose i just have to take it with an open mind that there people here whose minds are closed .

so far, i don't see any feature that would allow us to check which of our posts got negative ratings. i don't rate a discussion at all if i'm not gonna rate it positive. i rarely give a negative rating to anyone. because that won't be helpful at all. it's highly possible that some mylotters i think do not appreciate being responded back with a differing opinion. or some don't like straightforward answers that sometimes come out too strong for their taste. mylot has such a mix of different people trying to co-exist in one site. hehe i have seen old-timers also with an 8 and 9 star rating. i actually admire these people who have lasted that long in mylot and encountered probably a thousand discussions in similar topics almost everyday. yet they patiently try to explain some features in mylot to newbies and to think all of us started as newbies once. hehe

Thanks for your post. When i started this discussion, i was really irked that my reputation keeps getting down. I was still a 10 on Wednesday, to think that i wasn't here the entire day yesterday. Now i'm beginning to have doubts on how this mylot reputation works because we only guess of the reasons why our ratings go up or down. So far i can't recall posting a negative comment on someone else's discussion. I can easily accept if i was rated negative due to a very straightforward reply but the thing is i have not posted any negative comments so far (well as far as i can remember anyway). But i guess i just have to accept what my current rating is. After all a red is still better.

just like mysd said, as we increase our posts we need more pluses to keep our ratings high. perhaps most of the mylotters you interacted with forgot to do the ratings? some disregard the ratings after posting. only those who are aware of the ratings tend to do them. and yes, 9 is still better. at least there weren't trolls out to get you unlike what mysd and hatley had experienced. they've been here a long time so they know that people can bounce back and sooner or later trolls will be caught. just continue what you do best. soon the ratings will catch up.

i don't think there is a way to find out who rated us, positively or negatively. i think i saw this thing in the guideline or the faq.

Yes you're right. I started this discussion as a reaction when my reputation kept going down. I was again down today by one point from yesterday. But it never affected me anymore. I just learned that i am not the only person who experienced the same thing so i guess there's nothing unfair going on. Or nobody out there is doing things to ruin my day by rating me negative regardless of the content of my post. I just realized that there are more factors involved other than the rating that each member gave us. I've accepted the fact that there are things we can't control here and our reputation is one of them. The more it lets me get affected the more lazy i become so i finally accepted it and moved on. Cheers!

I don't think I would want to know who rated my response negative. I just post what I feel and think getting rated is a great way to tell if you are making sense and how people really feel about you. If it was not anonymous, people probably wouldn't feel as free to rate.

Got your point. Not only that, people would tend to get revenge and rate the other person negative too. It will just get personal in the long run which is not why mylot is here for. I posted this discussion as an initial reaction when my reputation kept going down. I guess it pissed me off when it went down when i only say good things in my comments. But based on other members who posted it happened to them too so i guess this is perfectly normal. I guess the realization that the it did not happen to me alone is enough reason to stop complaining about it.

maybe some of people here in mylot gives a negative rate for the others opinion , but i don't have an idea who's rated our comments . response , or oppinion , but anyway just read it and rate it your self.

You can rate others but not yourself. So far i can only remember giving one negative rating in all my posts. I don't have plans in changing that just because my reputation has decreased. I guess there are a lot of factors involved as far as mylot reputation is involved. I also realized that it did not happen to me alone so i guess it's normal and it's part of the system. It's really a good idea if we are aware who rate us but i guess it will only invite trouble if we know who rated us negative. So i guess the current system is just perfect. I've finally accepted the fact that we can't really please everyone no matter how hard we try.

I agree with you MrNiceGuy. Other members who can't find anything good to do can just rate you negative and get away with it easily. But i guess there's more to that. I now realized that there other factors aside from the rating each member give us. My reputation keeps getting down not only because i was rated negative there are other things i just don't know what it is. What ever that maybe i don't care anymore. I'll just keep on posting. The only sad thing is it affects our earnings. But who cares, i already reached minimum payout . Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!

Hi ybong, I don't know the answer, but my reputation has gom ne down from time to time, once dramatically, and recently from 99 to 98. I don't know the reason, but it doesn't bother me.

It bothered for a time but i guess i've gotten used to it since my reputation still keeps getting down. I guess i just have to accept the fact that this is my current reputation on mylot. I've learned that it did not happen only to me since there are others who experienced the same thing as well. I really believed that our reputation is not dependent on how other people rate us here and that there are other factors involved, what ever that may be... but who cares?... Thanks for dropping a line. Cheers!

no ybong007 mylot admins says in the guidelines if you bother to read them that there is no way to know who rated us negative or positive because this would cause a lot of ill will. there will be a few who do not read the information and do what they are told not to do, rate us negative just because they did not agree with our opinion, not because our discussion was bad at all.mylot admins says no do not rate anyone neg simply because you do not agree with them,we are all suppose to rate neg only if something is inane or is flaming or insulting. I was minused when I first got here bytwo trolls who spent all one night minusing every thing I had posted, I complained, mylot admins caught them and threw them out on their ears, but I had to work to get back to a nine and I had started out with a ten. no we cannot find out who rated us positive or negative as mylot admins worrys that it might cause people to get really mad at each other.

I understand the effects if we know who rates us. Maybe just an indication which among our discussions or comments got a positive or negative. Maybe it will work almost the same as the BR but without the name of the rater.

I had plan before to make a discussion just like yours before last month when I see my reputation keep dropping continually when i become active to post discussion every week and have my discussion both landed in today and hot, some included in the mylot digest. I notice that for the last 2 week of November till last month my reputation, would you believe whenever I post a new discussion instead of rising my reputation is down by 2 points or 1 point and even my friends have notice it too. i am blue at 97 before then down continually until I become yellow with 84. Just this week it increase by 1 point to 85 by the next day I log in not just before the 24 hours after it change again to 84 then back to 85 then again to 84 which very puzzling, the more active one become the more down her reputation is,which is so disturbing. It so happen that i see friend who become freak of this reputation that they do discussion like yours but in myself I keep quiet because some friends warn that if I get conscious over it the more someone would rate you down, Then, some suggest that I stop posting discussion which i did last month and yet my reputation continue decreasing despite I am not rude and still polite to anyone even avoiding those interest which provokes hatred. their are something which I suspect are trolling my discussion. I think if you been rated 11 times in a day the next day your reputation would be down by i point and by the way to increase your reputation need a lot of positive rating but to my observation if someone hate you then rated you everyday 11 times just like what happen to me last week of November my reputation is down so fast by 13 points drop in a matter of weeks!! despite of this it would not stop me for making a discussion as when one never stop making discussion it lower earning and so true the star have an effect in earning as I observe i have blue before it only take me more than 20 long post and I could earn nearly more than a cent per day but now it reduce to almost 50% which is very unfair to think that the more active you become the more the reputation lower!

Well that goes to show that i'm not alone. So there's no use getting bothered by it anymore. I admit i was really pissed when my reputation keeps getting down. As a matter of fact it went down by one point today from yesterday. But i guess the more it affects me the more unproductive i become here. Knowing that other member went through the same thing at least is a consolation and reason enough to stop complaining about it. It just made me realize that our reputation is not dependent on other members alone because i'm sure no one hates me here and i don't post that much to get noticed anyway. It's just sad that we'll be earning less if our reputation is down. But as I've said in my other posts who cares? life has to move on, high or low. Cheers!

No, myLot doesn't let people know who rates you but that could really be helpful. It's just another mystery. . . Because we don't know who rates who, we can't ever say that anyone negatively rates just because of a disagreement. You can only guess by the way they are talking (typing). Personally I only use the negative rating for a short or irrelevant post, and I almost always give the plus rating especially during an argument. If the argument has been helpful then I will definitely give a positive rating.

I think our rating don't just depend on how other members rate us here. i don't really believe that there are members here who would rate you negative just because they want to and not because on how you post a comment to their discussion. People would only do that to a famous person and i'm not a famous person . Up to this day i still notice that my reputation keeps getting down. Not that it matter anyway...well at least not anymore. I think most of the guys here would rather give a positive rating than a negative. So i really think our reputation depends on a lot of factors and not alone dependent on how other members rate us.

Well you now an 8 as of today congratulations! I have decided to ignore my reputation from now on. If it increases, i thank all those that rate me positive. If it decreases there are probably a lot of reasons behind it aside from the negative ratings other members gave. But it should not be a big deal for me anymore. What i will do now is just to keep on making posts. If i stop and sulk in the corner due to a decrease in my reputation won't do me good either. Mylot is still a fun site for me to get affected by a negative rating. Thanks for dropping by. Cheers!

I can't tell. But for me, it is good to hear what you want but it is better to have responses who are honest enough. It is also alright to give negative responses as long as you know how to deliver it not offensive.

After comtemplating for a few days, i finally decided to forget about the reputation thing. I realized that there members who went through the same thing. So this is normal occurrence in mylot and there's no one out there who wants to ruin someone's day. I finally decided to just keep on posting and ignore my mylot reputation becuase it still keeps getting down. As a matter of fact it went from 89 to 88 in one day. But the more it let me affects my mood the more lazy and unproductive i become. So my mindset now is thanks to those who rate me positive. If i'm rated negative...it's OK. But i guess, there's more to it that just how we are rated by other members here. What ever that is...i also don't care. Cheers!

There is no way we can know who is rating us negative. You are right though, that if you don't agree with someone on an issue, they will rate you negative, and to me that is so shallow. I certainly don't agree with all users, but I won't rat them negative for disagreeing with me. Mylot says we arn't to do that, but it does happen. Mine dropped 8 points in one day, and I have never worried about it, but on the same hand it isn't right either. I will rate all positive in spite of me getting negatives. The ones that rate negative, don't understand that they are hurting themselves, as well. They just have a lot of growing up to do is all. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

I certainly hope that there are other things being considered other than than those who rate us here as far as reputation is concerned. Because if it does, i would certainly suspect that there's someone out there is having fun by rating me negative while my reputation keeps getting down. But I don't think i'm posting that many discussions that much in a day as a matter of fact i seldom start a discussion. I think it's more than just the rating we get from other, i just don't know what it is but there are members who experienced the same thing, reputation keeps getting down for no reason at all. Adding to the fact that i earned several BRs but which doesn't seem to affect the decline in my reputation. But i'm no longer pissed with the reputation thing. If it goes up, i thank those who rate me positive. If it keeps getting down, i don't care that much.
