Outsourcing is one of the great ideas of this age. Competition fueled outsourcing to be one of the prime business strategies for companies to survive and stay in the marketplace. The global economy is pushing everyone to consider the concept, even the US government. The Augustine commission suggested that NASA's space travel be handled by a private entity. It means that the manufacture of spacecrafts and astronaut's space flight would be outsourced. The aim is to relieve NASA of doing space flight and concentrate on research and study earth with better satellites. Judging on what the government is doing right now, it is evident that it has began it's plan. After the Columbia accident of 2003, NASA paid Russia to use Soyuz in bringing the astronauts to the International space station. THAT IS OUTSOURCING. The cargo transport function of the space shuttle was awarded to SpaceX. It is a $1.6 billion contract of 12 flights to the International space station. TAHT IS OUTSOURCING. Regards

No great surprise - the US government has already outsourced various military operations (note the recent conviction of private contractors fighting in Iraq). I think this will be a notable trend in the 21st century, and I don't think it's at all a good thing!

Outsourcing is good in some cases, but can be detremental in others. Outsourcing cost me and many others our jobs in 1996, and some never recovered from the financial situation they founf themselves in. I, and others couldn't get work. Five yers after, the outsourcing wasn't working, so the company had to revert to hirishareholders who sold at the peakng employees again. The only real winner in the whole opperation was the CEO who made a financial killing, and of course the shareholders who sold when the price went up due to the savings made by the company on world-wide wages. So you see some outsources are just quick fixes, but not long term solutions.

watarikenji okay so outsourcing is so great but our country is in a recession with thousands of people out of work, and few jobs to be had, so we are now going to send even more job out to other countries and thus take away even more work opportunities? this does not make sense to me, first take care of our own people with jobs for them, then go to this outsourcing, get America back on its feet first before giving wo rk to other countries, they sure are not doing a thing to help us and we have to help everyone else first while our own kin are jobless and in economic trouble. this seems really stupid to me. my rant for the morning.
