Yep, I started about a year ago. I ended up doing 7 races in 2009. I medaled in two of them! My little sisters did the 1 mile fun walk at one of the races I ran last year. But one of my sisters just called to tell me about a 5K. I asked her if she was going to walk the 1 mile. She said, "No, I was thinking about the 5K." I was so happy. She said she's just started the training and is two weeks into it. That gives her another 3.5 weeks until the race! I am so excited we're going to run together!! yeah! My other sister might join us, my nephews already run!I am so excited we can do something together!!

it is so great to have an athletic family. i believe that more persons should be involved in sports because daily exercises keeps the body healthy and strong. In fact it is a great believe that persons who take part in sorts or who does physical exercises every day are healthier than persons who do not exercise.

We haven't been a real athletic family. My nephew was running but he's young. When I started running last year every one sat up and took notice. My other nephew ran in the second race with me and he's joined me on several races since then! My sisters got motivated the last race Jakob and I ran together. He and I ran the 5K my other nephew and his dad ran the 12K!

Actually, the point of racing is just to get across the finish line. Most racers (except the elites) are very encouraging! I say go for it.. take it at a brisk walk! It'll feel great and it's only 3.1 miles.

That is awesome! My mom is running her first 5K in a few weeks and I'll be running it with her too. I did 4 races in 2009, but only finishing medals for me. I'm still not that fast. This year I bump up an age group but I still don't expect to get any placements in anything, but I do expect to improve on last year's times.

Sounds like a nice healthy family. My husband wants to run in a marathon this summer, it will be his first, I will probably do a walk that goes along with it. He is much better at running than I am so I can't really train with him. I like to get my aerobics by dancing, but I give anyone who runs regularly a lot of credit. There are people out here running in nearly 0 degree weather, and I am just driving by saying, "God Bless Em!" Best of luck to your and your sister in your up coming marathon runs. Do you do the Chicaog marathon? Maybe I will see you on TV.

I am wanting to do the Chicago marathon this year or next. I am training for a half marathon in OKC this spring. IT's not going as good as I would like for it to. Some of that's been the cold weather. ACtually about 37 degrees is perfect for me! I am trying to build distance without injury! This race with my sister has me up and motivated again though!
