hi all! i am on a diet now and it is called the no-carb diet. i eat everything except carbs and sugar, so that includes fruits. it has been an effective diet for me that makes me lose a pound a day. i need to jumpstart my weight loss program, so this is a good start. i intend to do it for a week and then i will just repeat the process of skipping carbs from time to time in order for me to maintain the weight. this is really effective. but it also has side effects, like sugar withdrawal that makes me moody and yesterday, well, i had a headache. but i am okay now. how about you? are you on a diet now? and what kind of diet is it? please share your experiences here. take care all and God bless you! :D

I'm on what you would call a see-food diet; I see food and then I eat it Sorry for the cliché joke. In all seriousness, I have never actually been on a diet. I guess diets are less of a problem for guys I suppose. Besides, I need to put more weight on if anything, not lose it

You can really lose a pound a day with this kind of diet? Maybe I should try this. I also tried not eating any kind of sugar once when I went on a diet. I did not like the feeling at all. Since then, I have not done it again. It is too hard. Like you, I also became too moody. I was in a bad mood the whole day because I was feeling hungry and light-headed. So now, the only diet I do is no rice on weekdays.

i also follow the no-carp and replacement diet routine. heavy on vegetables and fish and minimal on lean meat -- mostly chicken without skin. well, the mood swings usually set in during the initial period, especially when you went on a no-carbs diet drastically. it should have been gradual, if it was a choice. you only do it drastically when a medical condition preceded it. but even so, replacement is better than no-carbs right away... say, when you depend on steamed rice for your main carb provider, you can switch to root crops or other high-fiber sources, like oats and corn, which are slower in releasing carbs... talk to your dietician... never go on a diet without one...

I'm not really on a diet. I refuse to call it a diet anymore. I'm just changing the way I eat for the better. I am just trying to eat in smaller portions and not eat as much as I usually do which is pretty hard for me since I have a big sweet tooth. I also exercise which is something that I really like. I run on my treadmill at least thirty minutes to an hour a day. On the weekend when I don't have school or work I run for two hours. That's what I do to try and loose weight. But like I said it's hard because when it comes to food I am so weak!

Yes I too have been in and out of diet plans. I knew that eschewing sugar is sufficient to reduce by 5 Kgs( approx. 10 pounds) in a month. I am unable to believe your claim of a pound a day.Carbs are required for enrgy and for the feeling of "fulness" that comes form the rise of glucose level in blood. As you rightly said this increases the craving of sugar. It is pretty sad that sugar does more harm than good to weight loss efforts, and avoidance of sugar based diseases like DM.

Because of the holidays, I gained a couple more pounds so I am now back to my "don't overeat" diet. I just eat when I am hungry and even though there are tons of yummy foods at home, I just eat them during mealtimes or when I am truly hungry and not just because I want them. It's been very effective to me. I also maintain my no-caffeine diet and I am really loving it so far. :D

I am currently following the eating plan outlined in The Maker's Diet. It has 3 phases, and the first phase includes severely limiting carbs. In phase 2, you slowly begin adding only good carbs back in (complex carbs). And phase 3 is the maintenance phase. I keep telling myself that this is not a lose weight diet, this is me changing the way I eat to feel better physically and emotionally. I was unsuccessful in phase one because of both the sugar withdrawals and the lack of time to prepare meals in advance. I decided not to give up though, I am going to keep trying. On the days that I do not have a meal that is acceptable for phase 1, I try to choose foods as close to what is allowed in phase 3. I have a co-worker who has been living on slim-fast and Lean Cuisine meals, and last I heard she had lost almost 30 pounds over the last 3 months. I also know that she has been exercising like crazy. Good luck with your weight loss endeavors!

A no carb diet is very dangerous. The body needs certain carbs in order to fuction. There are "bad carbs" and good carbs. You need good carbs to maintain a good healthy blood sugar level. If you let your body lose blood sugar to the point it becomes low, you can cause brain damage. Only a few drops can cause this. Also do it enough times and you could develop hypoglycemia. (low blood sugar) and then you could end up having more serious problems. You should include some carbs in your diet. High fiber foods will give you good cardbs. Eat some fruit. Its actually good for you. Balance your diet, and your body will burn fat and you'll continue to lose weight. A pound a day is to fast and to dangerous you shouldn't do such diets. Eat whole grains, and avoid sweets whenever possible. Include some vetghables and fruit in your diet.
