The massive Toyota Prius recall to the local dealers for repair affects many car buyers confidence on Toyota brand name. On the recent reports, many customers also complain about the 2008 - 2009 Toyota Corolla has problem with the steering system too. Some people can't stay in one lane, while others has to stop to avoid accidents. With all these negative news and reports, would it affect your confidence on Toyota brand name? Even though they are agreed to repair all the defects on their cars now?

nah it wouldn't affect my view on toyota's brand name, as to be honest I ain't a big fan of toyota's lol, they are far too slow and cater for a different market than the type of cars that I buy. So for me it doesn't affect my view but to be honest all these problems will lower the price of toyota's used car market thus having an effect on their new car prices too.

That is good suggestion too. I believe so, since its car has serious problem like this before, many people would have second doubt on buying Toyota brand name. I bet you they have many things to do to regain its reputation.

I think it should not. as every company commit mistakes but the thing is there those are not delibaretly. but the brand is a brand which accepts even after that like toyota. to maintain their standards now they will get all their cars back and then work on it to make them better. i think a big and good company only can consider this responsibility. and i think the consumers must also support in good cause.

Hi kingparker, Actually all the publicity on the toyota's has affected my confidence in them. I understand that mistakes are made and recalls happen with other makes and models. The defects with these toyotas were deadly and caused many accidents. Still it took them so so so long to correct and do anything about the problem. I think that really took a toll on their image. Now they have another problem right on the heels of the first. Yes, I have to wonder whether toyota has gotten careless with their manufacturing. I have to say that I probably would not consider going out and buying a newer toyota if I were looking for a car. This just has to have hurt their sales at a time when sales are hard to come by.

Perhaps I'll see in a few years to come whether there's anymore incident of such. If not, then it might be still alright to use Toyota. But actually, I think it might shake some confidence off certain people, though I can't say for all. For me, like I said, I'll wait a few years, and see how it goes. Or just wait for the next development from Toyota. Or I can just turn to the other power giant brand, Honda. Now that's another good brand.

It's a big impact on Toyota's name considering they have been the more favorable in of all the Japanese make and even the local makes in most countries. I am a Toyota fan. The cars we have owned and still owns are Toyotas however we are blessed not to have this kinds of issues. It's a major factor that affects anyone's confidence, mine as well, with Toyota. You can think that the more we become advance with technology and the more we try to add it in our cars, the more we're susceptible to mistakes like these because companies would try to go edge to edge with each other by competing who is the first one to release with the most modern age technology.

I purchased a 2009 Toyota Prius in October 2009. My trade-in was an 05 Toyota Matrix. I was very happy with the Matrix. It was a Great little car! The Prius drives better, and the gas mileage is phenomenal. When the car was 3 weeks old I went on a 2000 mile trip. The gas cost $120.00, for the whole trip. The 09 Prius has had no recall! I've never had a car that's so much fun to drive. It handles well and rides like a big car. I just love it, and I don't care how much $hit GM, and Ford stir up about the recalls - Toyota Prius is the best car on the road Bar None!

I currently have a 06 Toyota Corolla. My car has not been effected by this. I am one of the few that have been blessed. However, I don't think this should determine your choice while making the next car choice. We try to educate ourselves as best we can before buying but some things can not be helped. With all the other things we have to research, we can't let something that is out of our control, be the deciding factor. There would be no way of being able to tell.

Myself, I am not a Toyota guy to begin with, but my family has a 2007 RAV4 Powered by a 4 cylinder engine. It does pretty well. 4WD is available through a dashboard switch. About 27 mpg on the Highway. For the money and economy, I like the Honda Civic. Corollas are good on gas too, but are a little more pricey. I would take a Toyota over a Nissan. I owned a 1995 Altima and went through 2 transmissions before calling it quits @ 130,000. I do not think this recall issue has smudged the brand(s) of Toyota.
