i am a teacher for over a year now. and i think, i am still new in this profession. and somehow, i see the struggles of every student the same as i did before. exams and quizes are really not nice to think of especially when you were not able to study about it. and sometimes, the last resort or even oftentimes, is go CHEATING!. and i think teachers could sympathize with me that it is really not nice to caught some of your students doing it. and there was a time when i caught one, my blood pressure raises up and my heart pounded so much.. hmm. such for a first time. but i talked to them, and just gave them some punishments. but still, the feeling is really different. hmmm.. what about you, if somehow in your life, you will be a teacher, what would you do then?..

i understood what you meant by that yrsh. there comes a time in my life, a lot of times, when i was a student, when the subject is really boring alongside with the instructor who does not know how to catch up with his or her students. it is kinda not nice you know. there was a time when i usually get below passing score in my anatomy class. and sometimes, i just wanted to copy or cheat to my classmates. but in my mind, there is really that word stop to it.. it is not good and worth practicing though.. and yes indeed.. now i understand.. and that is why i am motivating my students to really study hard..

I'm very glad that you are applying this to the students..They should also have a very interesting teacher which could motivate them to be hardworkers and could help them to avoid cheating. I think you one of them.,.. Good luck sir Bautista and I hope that your strategy works...

I am a teacher too, and I don't tolerate cheating. I warn them before and during the exam, and after the third warning, that's a deduction of a point each (to the one cheating and the one who is allowing the cheating to happen).

It does feel insulting when students try to cheat. However, we can't do anything about that. It's their decision. I just render them the deductions and make sure to transfer them to another place next time. As for blood pressure. I don't think it's worth dying. So, better if teachers just breathe it all out.

that is so nice of you to be doing. i just hope that you will be the example for your classmates to see. you see, the root of corruption starts in the class. when the students are really not working good at this time, then sooner when they are on the position, that is why they are able to cheat and get the money.. hmm. i just hope that likes you will be many in this country and in this world.. thanks.!

I Would be soon a teacher,In the case that I would be going to caught my student cheating, I will going to call their attention and talk to them after the class. I will make them answer my question of what are their reasons in doing so. I will make them realize that what they've done s wrong ans put a sanction to them to teach them a lesson.

wow, i wonder what would you be as a teacher. the classroom is the living laboratory field you know. it is totally different out there. considering the generation of today.. hmm. i could really compare to my generation. totally different from now. but i appreciate your reasoning. it is nice to know that what you will be doing soon would somehow trigger the students to think about their future.. thanks!

Hi jungbautista Firstly, I think its is okay to reprimand, punish and take action against those who cheat. I am a student, and trust me, other students actually feel happy when a cheater is caught. Its not fair when we study will 3 am for quizzes and test, we feel sick and tired on the day of the exam, but someone else takes the easy way by cheating and gets more marks then us. Its really not fair. Please help us by catching these horrible students. We usually KNOW they are cheating, however, we don't dare to report fearing our identity will be relieved. We are tired of being honest and we are quite frustrated that some teacher's do very little to punish them. We want a fair test. Sometimes, these cheating students ask answers from us. We try to ignore yet they keep annoying us. Its really not fair, To answer your question, If I was a teacher, I'll talk to them, listen to their story first, and then decide who's wrong and who's right, but make it clear that cheating is a non tolerable behavior. Sorry for the rant. I just want you to know some students out there really appreciate it that you have caught the culprit. Have a nice day!

I realize that students are under a lot of pressure to succeed academically, but cheating very dishonest. Students should be given a grade of zero on that particular test, and if they are active in sports or other activity, their coach should be notified. Parents should also be notified.

hi jing..i got fascinated of your topic..i am a college instructor for three years, and it is true that students can't do away of the so called "CHEATING". somehow i sympathize with them, not because i'm tolerating them but because i was a student then. usually a college student have 10-12 subject or more than..and to think they'll gonna have exams to all that subject, it would really hard for them..remember that not all students are all intelligent that could have all the lessons in their mind..but as a teacher i told them, to avoid cheating. maybe i can forgive them if i caught them copying from their seatmates,it can be avoided. but i would not forgive if i caught them "cheating" i mean having that answers on a small paper keeping it on their pocket, shoes, hands, on their polo. before i give a quiz or exam, i give my rules.. everyone is enjoined to abide. for three times i caught a student cheating. he put the tore paper having the lessons included in the exam under his test paper. i was just observing them. i give my 1st warning, he ignore it, my 2nd warning i told them i will give them zero and i i'll throw their paper to the trash can..he still don't mind. the 3rd time, i got his paper and throw it, and i sent him out. i am not being rude i just wan't them to learn to strive hard, just like what i did.

I'm currently a college a student and I see most students now sin by means of cheating in tests, exams and other school works. I have some teachers here and some techniques they are using to avoid their students cheating are: 1. the giving of tests in different sets 2. the taking of tests by batches 3. being totally strict. Students who are currently cheating now at their age will grow as persons who are corrupt and cannot be trusted. One main focus teachers must give now is the being truthful and honest of students for it is what school's main function is and that is to mold students into better persons. Hope that helps !

thank you.. that somehow helps.. i did tried that one. but it is also dragging to my part. making two sets of exam is not that easy you know... but somehow it lessens the cheating time of the students. and it would again extend my patience in making exams.. and extending my time for the next batches of exam.. and being strict is not nice when out of class.. hmmm. but thanks for the information.. hmmm. the students need to be really disciplined.. they need it..

When i was in graduate school I was teacher assistant, and I used to teach to undergraduate student of first year, and i tell you, I used to feel really bad whenever I caught someone cheating, it was the worst feeling ever, but the behavior of cheating is totally unacceptable, students have to be teaches that honesty is one of the most important things in life, and that you shouldn't take shortcuts. I would totally punish them because they have to learn that their behavior have consequences, because if not, they will keep doing it and today can be cheating in school, tomorrow it can be something worst.

Give him a detention ticket, instead of humilating the kid infront of the class. Or call his or her parents to advice the student properly. I am not a teacher, but been caught cheating. hehehe

I am a teacher too and unfortunately cheating is a big problem. I have been teaching for 15 years and I will confess that I was a horrible teacher for the first few years. There were so many things that I was unprepared for and like you said, your blood pressure really goes up. One of the main things that I can tell you is that yelling or getting really mad at them does not work. Let them know that you care about them. Find out what their interests are and ask about it. As for the cheating goes, you cannot tolerate it. But you must be absolutely sure that they are cheating. If they are I would suggest one of two things 1. you can just give them a zero or 2. you could have them come in before or after school and retake it. I would do the second option, but they do need to know that you will not accept cheating. Good luck.
