How often do you eat out (at a resturant)?

I thought about this because resturants are getting expensive day by day. My husband and I have the habit of eating out at least twice in a week. I found that I can cook the same food with half of the money the resturant charges. Also, I agree that some of the dishes won't come out well as I get in the resturant. I feel guilty that we are spending a lot of money eating out. How often do you eat out (at a resturant)?

Hi dalia, We are eating at restaurant very rarely. You are very much right, eating in a restaurant is really costly now. So we eat out when I can‘t prepare food due to some works or all of us were out etc. Kids are enjoying eating at restaurant so sometime we may go for their happiness Eating at home is healthy and wealthy.

On weekends!! I try to keep on a budget and cook from Monday - Friday. But usually on weekends I will be too tired or too lazy to cook So me and my husband would then decide to eat out :) Usualy I do cook again on Sunday for lunch if Im feeling up for it :) With all the cooking everyday and working full time as well, I think I do deserved to eat out at least once a week

I have a cup of coffee ( a mocha latte ) at my favourite coffee shop every day, but only eat out at a restaurant a couple of times a month to save money. My husband is a wonderful cook, so eating at home is nice, but we like to go out now and then for a treat, to keep things new, and to make sure we have variety in our lives.

Yes, going out is a different and nice experience. I am not very fond of coffe, but my husband is. He has a coffee from his favorite cafe on all the weekdays. Sometiems he even have breakfast there. We try to make coffee at home on weekends, but he drags me to his favorite coffee shop on some weekends becauase he is that fond of good coffee.

Me and my parents eat out every Sunday (after hearing the mass). We always try eating at different restaurants so that we'll be able to taste different dishes. :)

Since from last year, when the economy is facing downturn, i had planned to eat at home more often then before. We tried not to spend too much money by eating out too often, like a few years ago. Before, we always eating out from Friday to Sunday, since we want to relax from the kitchen. Now, since we want to save more money for future needs, we decide to cook more often at home then eating out. I had learned to cook those dishes of my favorite when i eating out and came to taste quite nice after a few practices.

That is a good decision. Eating out once in a while is fine. I think this way because of the recession. I didn't get a salary hike for the last two years because of recession. So, I should be much careful about spending money. The value of food has increased a lot during two years, but not the salary. So, I should take the effort to cook more food at home.

Yes, my friend....Cook more at home and thus you will still be able to save quite a lot of money, although your boss didn't increase your salary. It's better to save as much money as we can, as we never know when we are in need of those extra money.

Eating at home is becoming more and more the cheaper option. I tend to eat home all the time now. Also, unless your going to a 10 dollar or more restaurant, eating at home tends to be healthier (unless your just eating microwave food and frozen pizzas). So, not that often anymore. I used to though all the time! I probably will start going out to restaurants more often when I get tons of myLot money in! hehe, or more realistically when the economy gets a bit better!

I forgot to mention about the health factor in discussion description. The problem is not only the money, health also affects. Most of the resturants are adding preservatives, colors, and other things which are not good for health to make their food appear nice. Most of the extra stuff that adds color and smell are not good for health. I appreciate you for mentioning the health factor.

Yea, I'm lucky to be generally a pretty healthy and fit person, but that can change pretty quickly with foods becoming lower and lower quality in almost all but the nicest restaurants nowadays.

How often do i eat out? Almost everyday. As I have a school and we need to eat out everyday, me and my classmates get so tempted on eating at restaurants. We love restaurant food and we didn't mind its nutritional values.

I eat in the restaurant once a week.Sometimes when there is no food at home,i order food through the free home delivery service.I have seen the rates of food increasing very high as 2 dollars.Sometimes the food that comes is not cooked well or there the mutton is not cooked well.It is good if we buy food ourselves and cook then at home as it will have lot of nutrition. We can eat once a while outside for the change in taste of food.

I eat in a restaurant together with my family not so often. Modesty aside, I think I can cook better than most of the restaurants around anyway. But when I crave for food that I admit I can't really cook better then we do go to some particular restaurants once in a while. Many times also some friends would treat us so we do have a chance to eat in very good and expensive restaurants for free.

Our family tends to go out to eat at a restaurant at least once a week and most of the time we end up at a restaurant closer to twice in a week. I do feel quite guilty about the money that we are spending at restaurants but there are times that I just don't feel like cooking and there are some dishes that I don't feel like I am able to adequately prepare at home. Those are the main reasons that I don't cook at home all the time.

Well, my friend. I find it unnecessary to eat out at a restaurant often. Because most of them in my country which offer foods at cheap don't have hygienic environment of food processing. That's why I don't eat in these places so often in order to avoid illness. Eating too often can lead us to an upset stomach. And those with good environment with quality foods are too dear for us to afford. The same applies to the confectioneries. Yes, you're right that if we can cook food the same way as the restaurants/confectioneries do will cost less than theirs. But it's not a cup of tea to all. That's why I like to eat out once or twice a month just to have a change in taste of delicacies. Have a healthful eating.

Usually once a week, but lately, I would reduce that amount to probably twice a month, or less than twice a couple of weeks. We just trying to cut the cost at spending. It is the way when the economic is not so well, and we all have to watch out our budget here.

We used to eat out every weekend but since the start of 2009, it had dwindled down to eating out during special occasions like birthdays and anniversay. I know that as long as I do good with my online earnings, this will all change for the better.

Eating out is something of a stress buster for me. I eat out more for a 'change' rather than tasting something exotic. In fact, my wife is a great cook and runs a very popular blog on recipes. So, it is natural that I eat out more as an 'outing' than anything else.

Hello daliaj, Even I feel the same as u do. Earlier, we used to eat out approx.2-3 times in a week and dinner for two with two dishes did not cost more than Rs.350/- but now the cost has increased upto Rs.1000/- and it has started pinching us. But for me eating out is like refreshing myself. Therefore, we do go out to eat as usual, but we hv changed our eating habits. Now we go to fast food restaurant of our son's choice and costlier one is visited once in a month only. Moreover, being fond of cooking, I can cook all types of dishes and my son is happy to have non-veg dishes of his choice at home which are more delicious and also more in quantity.

When I was living with my mom I never wished to eat at a fancy restaurant, she cooks really good I tell you. But now that I am far away from home, I am always eating at street restaurants for meals , it's cheap actually so I can't relate that to your problem. But, sometimes my fiancee and I go to restaurants occasionally for a good quality time and let me tell you, you can never notice your wallet going "cha-ching". Money just vaporized. It's probably because of the good time. Now I am thinking of ways to celebrate without being fancy, and without going to fancy restaurants.LOL..:-b

my boyfriend and i eat out about 4 times a week and by the end of the month we dont even know where all our money went. i do agree that if you cook you can make the same dish for about the half the money you would spent at a resturant.
