The libertarians say allow people to pay for only the services they want. The government says, no, we'll tax you and provide the services to everyone. And then when we run out of money, we'll charge you anyway. http://cbs13.com/local/tracy.911.calls.2.1502690.html I suspect more and more people are gonna give libertarianism a second look as governments across the country pull more stunts like this. So I'm all for it! Grin

yet another fine example of the government trying to screw someone over...that is all a politician is good for...

So true. It is up to the citizens to find good replacements. We need better government.

The first requirement that a politician must meet is that they have to be able to look people in the eye and lie to them. The second requirement is that they have to be willing to steal people's money from them, and waste it on one thing or another. That doesn't provide much hope for us getting a better government any time soon...

In New Zeland you have to pay if you want fire protection. If you don't pay, they won't put out a fire in your house. If you want to, you can take a gamble that your house won't catch on fire don't pay. Chances are good you won't need the fire departments services. Just in case you value your house more than the small yearly fee, pay it and if needed you will be served.

charging for emergency call is absolute madness as it is madness charge for healthcare. Those are rights of the people not commerciable goods.
