The claim is true. I have been using Opera since version 5, at a time when it was the only browser with tab browsing. I also use other known and obscure browsers. and I think my view points are more objective in nature. Another aspect is more websites work properly on Opera 10.5. I prefer widgets rather than add ons because they do not burden the browser. About.com conducted a poll on the best desktop browser. See the results at http://browsers.about.com/od/allaboutwebbrowsers/ss/2010-readers-choice-awards-web-browsers-winners_2.htm Opera garnered 51%, while Firefox is way behind at 41%. Opera occupies the top two places for Best Mobile browser with a total of 65%. The results are not definitive, but it should give a fair idea on the strength of Opera, and the impression that it makes on heavy Internet users.

Nangisha, I have the following browsers installed - IE, Opera (three versions), Firefox (latest), Chrome, ChromePlus, K-Meleon, Avant, WebBrowser, Dragon, The World, Slim Browser, and Enigma. I had CometBird and Safari. Whenever I make a comparison I try to be objective. In fact for slightly more than a year Firefox was my primary browser. When I say Opera 10.5 is fast, I meant it. It cannot be denied that there are websites which load fast on Chrome, but we are talking about the overall performance. Another factor is that Chrome calls home, and also keeps track of our activities. There must be at least one reason why techies, s proven in the About.com poll, prefers Opera.

Hi all, @rosdimy - you have a lot of browsers installed on your system, what you do with them... LOLZ. After reading about.com poll I also thought that opera might be faster. But it is not that much true for most of the sites used by me. You utilize a lot of browsers, you must have known that browsers fetch web pages object wise, A web page may have tens of objects including images. OPERA 10.5 fetches all faster then other browsers but it would not present them to user before it had fetched all. It is quite problemstic, users thought that it was not that much fast.

I just downloaded it to see what it was like. It seems to be a stripped down version. I haven't found bookmarks or any place to adjust text size, etc., yet. I'll have fun looking it over!

I finally got around to updating my Opera and I give it 2 thumbs up! At first, the missing menu bar threw me, but found the Menu button. Sweeet. I hate taking up room with multiple toolbars, and this eliminated one of them by putting my menu access on my browser toolbar. I am not too sure how I like the Find function yet. It highlights, but dims the background making it hard to see or read the rest of the text at times. But that's a minor complaint. I'm sure I can get used to it. I love my Opera.

The 10.5 made me make the switch from Firefox. It's extremely fast, faster than any browser out there, has many handy features and thus makes your everyday browsing simpler and fun. The new design is sleek and clean, you will love that Opera button which keeps everything in place and opens more space for your web pages. Under Windows 7 and Vista it looks just great as it blends well with Windows Aero and uses the new Windows 7 feature Aero Peek properly - now you wont ever lose a tab. And it comes with tons of new features - updated Opera Mail client, external Widgets, Opera Unite and more. It's a browser you must try!

Nitia, i just want you to know that when it comes to beautification of software and application then we give it to Opera but i think they are having alot of errors right now most of the new ideas like opera link, dragonfly and turbo are really good and shows that OPERA is striving for the best for it's users but this features have not been so perfect because men themselves are not perfect, for me all this opera 10.05, 10.10 are still trials and beta they will soon be better than other browser but it'll take them so long....
