I just knew it would get best picture! I'm glad that the academy picked such a powerful film. How many of you thought The Hurt Locker woud win? Are you happy or pi$$ed that it won?

The afternoon guys that I listen to on the radio, that talk about hockey, also talk about movies that they like. Even when this movie came out, they were already raving about how good this movie is. But, I never really gotten around to watching it. I guess, I'll be watching it this weekend. And then I will decice if I'm happy with the win...

I understand . I haven't seen either Avatar nor The Hurt Locker. Avatart isn't my type of film, It seemed too Uplifting. Those type of films can cause me to lose my temper so I stay Far away . And The Hurt Locker is a war film. I usually don't watch them either. But I guess I have to try it now. I hope I like it. The last time I tried a " Best Film" I couldn't get into it. It was No Country For Old Men.

I'm not only happy it won, I will be relaxing the next 7 days watching the know everything teenager load and empty the dishwasher. Wanna guess which one of us lost the bet? I told him that I thought Avatar would only grab a few creative ones. This was the first time in several years that I was happy with where all the big ones went.

I remember being happy Gandhi won over E.T. I love it when substance wins over popularity.Oops was that harsh?

I don't think that was harsh, I felt the same way, and I loved ET..I think it's fine if the Golden globe or peoples choice awards go with popular but I always felt the Oscars were more about the craft and should set the bar a little higher..I was disgusted the year Titanic won it.

I'm also glad it won although I've yet to see it. I wasn't surprised with the results despite the hype received by "Avatar". "The Hurt Locker" is another of a long line of movies I'd never been familiar with until the Oscar nominations came out. I'm glad the members of the Academy don't overlook these fine films and bring them to the attention of the rest of us. Annie

I am not a movie person, but I had never even heard of that movie until it won...but heard non=stop about that Avatar one. I saw previews of Avatar and I don't understand how an animated showlike that could win over a "real actor" film and am glad it didn't win. But I never heard a single thing about Hurt Locker

Don't feel bad. I Am a movie person and i didn't hear about this film until it was nominated.I am glad it won. Of what I heard of Avatar it was too vast. The best epics are the ones that take a small story and blow it up. But I could be wrong. I must confess I didn't see Avatar.

I actually was expecting the Hurt Locker to win the nomination. I think I am happy about, although I haven't seen the film yet. I've read a couple of reviews and it seems that this movie is really worth that award. I hope I'll have a chance to see it in the nearest future.

I thought for sure that the movie Avatar was going to win just because of the money it made in the box office. I'm so happy that The Hurt Locker won though. It was such a great surprise. I also was so happy that finally the first female director Kathryn Bigelow won for directing the Hurt Locker. I can't believe it toook all these years for this to happen.

That's what I like about the Academy, they don't crunch the numbers, They seem to go by story.

i am happy that it got the best picture . but i am a bit disappointed that avatar dint get that . but hurt locker is a very good movie and it deserves it . many other awards have come in the way i wanted or hoped . the best animation movie , best supporting actor male , best actress . i think it was a good choice for giving to hurt locker .
