I am tired of my choices in fast meals!

So lately my "fast meals" have been a can of vegie soup or mac n cheese out of the box. I feel like I hit a wall when I am trying to think of something else to feed the kids at lunch (other than sandwiches of course) Any ideas?

Canned chili. Frozen entrees. One of my favorites is ground turkey, mixed with cubed havarti cheese and then formed into patties and fried. You can put it on a bun if you like but I usually use lettuce leaves as a bread substitute and eat it that way. Cooking up a stir fry using some of the left over meat from dinner is a good option. I make mini pizzas with English muffins that are quick. Split the English muffin, spread it with some pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese and pop it into the toaster over. When it's close to done, I like top it with fresh basil leaves and cook for another minute.

oooh that ground turkey with the Havarti cheese sounds good. I like using lettuce as a substitute for bread, not sure if my kids will! Thanks.

here in my country when you said lunch it means a rice with a dish. why dont you try to research for some new recipe. why dont you make some pasta for them. ask your children what food they want to .

My kids always want sandwiches! They seem ok with whatever I feed them, I am the one getting bored! We eat rice at dinner all the time and I as I replied to another post, if you have any fast rice recipes to suggest or even something you put with rice that I might not think of would be great. Thanks.

You just have to learn to be creative. For example - pizza bagels only takes three ingredients! Open up a bagel, spread tomato sauce on it, sprinkle with cheese, then microwave it for something like 20 seconds. Kids love those. You can also make pizza pitas the same way :) Another idea is tuna salad - but as a salad not a sandwich. I've taken tuna from a can, mixed with mayo as usual, and then mixed it into a bag of salad mix (you can buy these pre-cut salad bags in the produce section). It was yummy, had protein and was healthy. I don't have kids, but I too feel stuck in a rut sometimes with the same old "fast" meals. So I've been trying to be more creative. Combine ingredients in different ways, and you'll be surprised what you come up with.

For lunches my kids eat left overs, ramen noodles, corn dogs, baked potatoes w/ toppings, chips & salsa, hot dogs, chicken nuggets, tuna salad, spaghetti-o's usually in my house that I can think of.

How about some quick pizzas, all you need are some English muffins, pepperonis, cheese and a jar of spaghetti sauce. Let them top the muffins themselves toss them in the oven for about 5 to 10 minutes and you are done. Add in some fresh veggies so they can get a veggie for the day as well. Another great quick idea, pigs in a blanket, all you need are hotdogs and ready made rolls and cheese if you like. They can be made up a head of time and then re-heated in the microwave. Hope these help you with those lunch blues that you have going on! Good Luck!

When you say lunch do you mean a packed lunch for your kids at school or at home? If its at home I would suggest making quick healthy meal like some pasta and some nice fresh fruit. If your giving your kids food for school then I would suggest some microwaved food like hotpockets, or some microwaved food. I'm pretty sure there's a very wide variety of microwaved food.

This is for my 3 and 1 year at home. We do eat pasta a lot, I am really looking for something fast other than pasta! That is a lot of carb's (which is good when I am running, but my knee hasn't let me do that for over a year) and after a while a little boring!

try mini hotdogs, or sausage rolls. Mini pizzas are easy and cheap to make and kids love to make there own which helps too, through some healthy choices out there and see what they choose for themselves. I also make omlettes and toasted sandwhiches like jaffles are often a good way to change a sandwhich into something more interesting. fruit platters and cold served sliced meats and vegtable platters are a great option if you can get your children to eat them.
