I don't know what to say

I just heard another family has to face unemployment, this time a 21 yr job and a man who is middle aged and is on heavy and expensive medication to keep himself from rejecting a kidney which his wife gave him two years ago. I have nothing positive that I can offer so I guess I'll just listen and maybe something will come up where I can offer a positive thought. For all our young families who have faced this challenge they were able to stay open minded and find other employment, maybe he will also find a new direction but it's going to be much harder. Let me know if you have any ideas.

That is really heartbreaking. Is he married with a wife working? I don't know how people are surviving having been out of work for so long, unemployment isn't enough to pay rent/mortgage and utilities and feed the family. How are they doing it? I think if something isn't done soon, things will begin to boil over. I said a prayer for that man just now, I hope that he can find a public program that will pay for his medication and maybe help him get along till he finds a job.

Thank you for your prayer, I wish his wife could work but she has been on disability for a couple of years, everytime she goes back to work she gets disabled again. I went through this for about five years before I realized I just couldn't work anymore so I know how hard one tries to work, but your body just can't take it. I often wonder when life just seems to get harder and harder if it isn't a time to totally change what you are doing and look for another way. Thanks again.

Dont you have unemployement insurance or disability pension? It sure would solve his problems. It wont be easy for him to find another job and being on medication after a kidney transplant, you'd think he'd be on disability!! Maybe you dont have this in your country?

Losing a job when one is in middle age is a great blow to his career and a bleak future is waiting to tarnish his livelihood as the employment market is dependent on the world economic situation which is right now isn't showing any improvement. The only solution is have faith in God and pray that something good will come out from this redundancy. I don't know if he believes in the power of prayers but I can vouch for the truth in prayers as my prayers have been answered after knocking the door many many times before God showed me the way and lead me to the prosperity door.

Stupid economy... Well they need to be flexible, not be stuck on a certain type of job or a certain type of salary. And if she isn't working and can work, I'd say they both need to start looking now. The longer they wait, the harder it gets. I hope he at least got some kind of a severance package?
