Do you think the survey results reflect the outcome of the May 2010 elections?

It's about a month before the May 2010 national elections, and I would just like to ask if you think the surveys done by SWS and Pulse Asia are indicative of who will win as president and vice president of the Philippines? So far, for the presidential race, it's always Noynoy Aquino and Manny Villar who are the front runners, and Mar Roxas and Loren Legarda for the vice presidentables. Do you think that the results of these surveys, who asked around 3,000 people from all over the country, show the same results that we will get in the coming elections? What do you think?

I think the surveys are more or less accurate, after all these surveys are mathematical in nature. It is not the size of the polling data, but the interpretation that is important. In the past, the surveys have more or less been accurate. A lot of people say that surveys are bought by the candidates, but I disagree. Yes, they are commissioned, but even the candidates want to know the real score so that they can also plan accordingly. The idea that surveys are rigged is just hearsay.

Yes, in the past, the results of the surveys more or less mirrors the results of the actual elections. I guess that it's just sad that the survey results are now becoming the basis of people in choosing whom to vote for instead of researching about the candidate. Thanks for the response!

So far, for the past three Presidential elections, the survey results are always accurate, whoever topped the surveys always the one will win.

That's true. That's why I was wondering if it would happen once again this coming elections. I really hope people educate themselves to choose the right candidate not because he/she is popular or good-looking but because he/she is capable of steering us to progress.

I do not believe in the integrity of the surveys. It's kinda sad though that whether we like it or not, some people will vote for those candidates who are popular in the surveys. I just do hope people will think before they vote and not be influenced by survey results.

Same sentiments here. It's time people make their choices based on the facts behind the candidate: their skills, their achievements, and platforms. Thanks for responding!

I don't believe in the surveys, first because it is those candidates that commissioned those surveys. Second is that I don't think that a group of people who answered the surveys really represents the whole nation's opinion. they are just wasting their money on these surveys. Let's just wait for the real voice of the Filipino people.

It's a good thing that there are many like you who refuse to believe in what the surveys say. I hope people will get to realize the fact that these surveys are also commissioned by the candidates. Thanks for the response!

I don't think so. You see over 50 million voters are to participate in the next poll. And a sample of 120 people for these surveys will surely reveal a bias result. I don't believe it as far as statistics is concerned.

Nah, I don't believe those surveys. I think they are just manipulated by the people who have enough money to buy their opinion. They sort of condition the mind of the people who to vote for. Let's just wait and see the results of the May 2010 elections...:)

What's sad about it is that there are minds who have been manipulated by these surveys. I sure hope the real results after May 10 will say otherwise. Thanks for the response!

Although from the past election survey results may look almost same as the results of the actual elections. That happened in the many elections we have had but I do think that for as long as people would not depend on that as their choice of when they cast their votes then that trend would be averted by this election.

hi there moonchild, I dont believe in the survey, here in cebu Noy2x is on the #1 spot, if Noy2x have a lot of supporters here, the more is anti villar.I dont know if villars rating is true.here in cebu I think Erap has more supporters than villar. well this coming election. I hope villar will not take the place for the president, i dont certainly care who win but not villar..I had heard enough that makes him non credible.. have a great day and happy mylotting

aquino may win this year's election because the poor can trust on him never to be a corrupt official like estrada, arroyo and their subordinates. most poor people has seen enough of corruption and if less-corrupt official is the basis of becoming a president (which i believe is this year's election's theme), then noynoy is the winner hands down. and if they fear GMA will return back to foocie, then noynoy once more is their choice for that not to happen. problem is, he can't be the prsident and theres no way im gonna waste my vote on someone who does not know how to run a (troubled) country.... yet most people believe noynoy is the answer to their problems.
