"Failure is the Key to Success."- Some Wise Guy!!! My friend, everyone isn't perfect and everyone can't clear all kinds of tests in the first attempt. There are failures! The key is to learn from the failure and perform better next time. I am sure you now know what went wrong in that test. You know your mistakes... You definitely know where you need to improve yourself, right? Just get over this frustration, which isn't going to do any good to you and prepare for the next time... I am sure you will pass the next time... Good Luck!!!

I have to admit to you that I am terrible at test taking. I'm an English speaking native and even I think that I would have gotten frustrated at taking a test like what you've mentioned. It is a very, very common thing for people to have anxiety while taking tests. So, I would come out of this experience with my head held high. I would also take what I learned from taking the test this time and learn from it for the next time.

Don't feel bad. Just practice your English skills through reading and writing and I'm sure that you will master the language. One more tip that I can give you is to watch children's educational shows like Sesame Street. English is not my first language, but before I got to learn English at school, I learned it first from watching Sesame Street. You may say that its trivial because it is for children. But if you watch it you will see how easy it is to learn English, including correct pronunciation.

Hi, friend. Are you referring to the English Contest for college students? I know it was held this morning. Never mind about the result. Look on the bright side. At least you are clear now about your problem with english, and you can take more drills in each specific part. Look, you're already making improvement in writing by posting in mylot. You just need to devote more to posting and learn how to write better. It takes a long time to learn to write better, but you'll surely reap the benefits as long as you work on it. As to the other parts, listening, reading... The only way is to practice. Practice as much as possible and you will do better.

A few questions my friend, and a suggestion maybe. Did you try your best? What did you learn, that you think you have to work on? I am happy you did the writing in time, speed reading...is that really so important? I read fast, but I know many people that take their time reading, and english is all that they know. What do you mean by skim the options, can you clarify this for me? You just listen dear, think of nothing else, repeat the words in your head as they are spoken. Wait until the speaker is finished before translating, then respond saying "I think this is what you meant...Am I correct?" You are doing great, and I would give you a hug if I could, and sit with you and help also...do you have skype? With appreciation

It's like IELTS exam? Yeah, it's difficult especially when your very anxious, you can't really focus when anxiety comes in. do you know the results now? If the result is not good, well you can still improve and study right? Just always read and watch news, tv shows... It may help to increase your vocabulary.

Don't worry it can be practiced. You think that you have a bad test but sooner or later you will discover your mistakes and then it will be easier for you to answer it because you already know the right answer. That happens to me all the time. Just review your test and get ready for the next test and have a goal that you will make it good or you maight never know, it will better :)

i'v never passed my mandarin, whether it is listening comprehension, oral, reading or writing. if i have the time i still want to learn the language, at least, conversational mandarin. i think you should continue to pursue it because that's one great language to have on a global perspective. don't let past failures inhibit or stop you. and this is one great site where you can pick english up here in myLot. so go girl...:)
