New goals

Well it's been months and I just can't get my groove back. I no longer enjoy distance runs. I no longer even really enjoy outdoor runs around the neighborhood. I love my treadmill, and I love doing short 1 mile sprints. Today I ran my mile at a 9 minute mile pace. It was so invigorating and before I knew it I was done. Such a sense of accomplishment when I change my goals. I used to feel like a failure even though I just didn't want to go beyond 2 miles on my runs. Now I'm embracing that and turning it into a new challenge.

I think it can be good to try new things. Personally, I can't stand the idea of running on a treadmill, although to be fair I haven't actually tried it. However, after all those long runs for the marathon training I haven't really wanted to do any more long runs. The most I've done since the marathon is 8 miles. Now I've got a 5K coming up and I've been working on shorter runs. But since I do intervals all the time, they've gotten a little boring and I'm disappointed that I'm still so far back in my group. Then I came across the fartlek runs, and those are pretty fun! You just randomly speed up for certain distances during a regular easy run. I just have to make sure I don't speed up too much.

Hiya syndibee, Well I like to exercise inside the House too I prefer it as I can take my time and do anything and if it looks silly well no one is watching me either. My husband has one of those machines that vibrate and it looks like they could be a good thing too. Although I still look at it with precaution and warm up before trying to use it. It is quite fun too. But I still prefer to exercise on my own doing my own thing. I don´t really need a machine not yet anyway. I don´t blame you everyone has to do what they want and running on your treadmill at home you don´t have to dash around to get out of the House on time or bother if it´s going to rain and all that.
