This Is Not A Referral Link

Have you noticed this one in some of the discussions? That some members still include this NOTE that the following is Not A Referral Link? Is it really necessary to state that a link posted is not a referral link? I can't see the logic there, since I guess mylot admin will not automatically delete discussions. I cannot say that mylot admin is inconsiderate, careless, etc. that they will just delete a post with just any link that is posted therein.

This topic was raised yesterday and Alice got straight to it and left us some more valuable information http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/2306614.aspx

It's not appearing in the search for me either, even using the correct tags. Weird

Its necessary to put it, because there are some mylot police that will report you for almost any link you post.

If users report and the report is unjustified, myLot do NOT delete. They also delete without reports.

There has been time that referal linkshave been put in and have been deleted for they are against the rules so if we put a URL it has to be nothing to do with referals

i guess the note is useless with links, whether it's a referral or not.

So that people won't mistake something for a referral link and report it. maybe it's paranoid, but I don't see how it hurts to do it...

Some people like to be assured that Admin. knows what they had in mind. Some of us are actually ethical and care that they are doing things correctly and want to be assured that the people in the office understand that we are doing things correctly. It is one of the old beliefs from back around ott 4 or 5. Hehehe

yes but Alice and the admin are not that stupid not too determine which link is a referral link or not. actually, Alice mentioned it in the other discussion that i failed to get in my search before i posted this, "Placing the words "not a referral link" before the link posted in a discussion is silly. " yesterday's post is mentioned right above your response, by mysdianait.

you've got a point celtic. but of like alice have said, the link to profile which lead to an affiliate link is still in violation to the guidelines.

So what difference does that make? They are just trying to be conciencious and honest for the most part. So what if it is 'silly'? I think we should all be alittle more giving and nice to others instead of so opinionated about such things. Everyone is different and we need to unite on here and have fun together instead of being nit picky and viewing people as weird or silly just because they chose to do things differently than we do. Come on already!

Hi Neil, It's okay. they just want to make sure that people will respond on their discussions. it might be mistakenly seen as referral link when in fact it's not. i think it's not for admin ---it's for us who will read and respond on the discussion. Have a great day friend!

I have seen that sort of notices used over and over in mylot. I think members are worried that admin might just delete discussions that comes with a link without proper scrutinizing the discussions. I responded to one yesterday with a link that comes with the notice. The discussion was deleted. What ever reason it was deleted, only admin knows.

yes zandi, mylot admin and especially Alice, are not that stupid to just delete those post with links if no further check-up is made. besides, a referral link is so easy to recognize and Alice, i am sure knows about it,

neildc I think that is r eally unnecessary as all of us know the difference between a referral link and one to a video or something of that nature so I am sure mylot officials are equally intelligent and will also know the difference.so why the need?.

right Patsie, Alice and the rest of the admins are smart enough to distinguish a link of each type. i also am sure it is not necessary. Neil

I have had a discussion deleted because the administrators thought I had posted a referral link, I have also had one deleted because they assumed I was soliciting, from now on I am not going to start discussions that even make them THINK that I have as it seems to me they don't really give much thought before deltions.

i think we can also ask for a reconsideration and request them to reinstate our discussion, if they only suppose or assume that it is in violation. have you not try to question them why they deleted those discussions?

I think much is done by computer, surly mylot does not have time to read all the discussions and responses that come in each day.

Just so you know, it is stated in the Terms and the mylot guidelines that it is prohibited to post or put referral links in your discussion. You may be ban in mylot by doing that. That is the reason why they clear that it is not a referral link.

yes but admin is so smart to recognize a link if it's a referral or not. so i think it is not necessary.

I have always ascertained that who ever reads my post is aware the link is not a referral one by noting it. I read Alice’s comment on this and the fact that she thinks such a procedure is ‘silly’. I don’t know if I will make the note next to my links in the future but I don’t think when I did I was being silly. I thought I was doing the right thing in order to save my post from unnecessary deletion.

sometimes the admin too busy, maybe by the title the discussion wanted to make sure that is not against the FAQs.

mylot admin though is smart enough to recognize a link if it is a video or just a link to ones personal or referral link.

Hey, i just saw your post and i think i need to tell you the logic behind that. It's because sometimes myLot authorities will delete any posts that are considered ref link or commercial-related link. If they saw the title, they may re-considerate the action of deleting the post. Hope that helps:)

admin can easily recognize a link if it is a referral link or not, so why bother putting a note before it? they are smarter than us, more than we expected.
