Count the calories as you eat. It’s a good idea to have an idea of the calories that most food items have. If it is a packed thing then the label is sure to have the calories that the substance has.

Well, five pounds a week is a bit of a challenge. They say that any more than 2 pounds of weight loss in a week is not going to be "long-term". But honestly.. This past week and a half I've lost about 5.5. And mainly from cutting out soda (OK, I still have one diet coke a day..) and drinking about 4 liters of water, as well as walking about 3-5 miles per day. This has been awesome! A lot of people say that when you first start dieting and exercising more, you usually just lose water weight and not actually fat. So, it gets tricky. But what has been working for me is adding the "recommended" amount of water to what I drink every day, walking a lot (or whatever your exercise of choice is - I do about an hour a day and that seems to work well), and eating a lot more fruits & veggies. I really wouldn't suggest those fad diets - like the "lemonade" diet or the "cabbage soup" diet or ANY of those because essentially you'll just gain the weight right back after you start eating solids or normal food again. So I would avoid those! Plus cabbage soup is really gross. lol. Good luck to you

Hi caydensmom! I lost weight just last two semesters when I became very busy with my off-campus teaching. :) The trick? Lots of work and exercise! My daily routine back then was to walk from my dorm to my OJT site which was a one-way 15-minute walk. If you're not used to exercising, you can do a little.. maybe 10 minute walk everyday, and then when you get used, increase it by 15 minutes.. then to 30 minutes until you get used to walking for long hours. I love walking!! And I believe it has helped me lose weight perfectly. Getting on a diet can help you be thin rather, but the muscles would sag and it'll look bad anyway. There's no better way than to exercise.. my favorites however are walking and dancing :) Good luck!

do cardio exercise and eat small portion of meals a day with complete macronutrients (low g.i. complex carbs, high biological value protien with less fat and healthy fat)..

I normally drink two glasses of water before I eat. And before I knew it I'm already full...
