When it comes to politics I would be considered a bad Christian by most

I don't follow the right wing conservative group that most Christians see as being right. To me Jesus was a rebel and that is what we need today too many Christians have just rolled over on issues and believe everything someone says because they say they are Christians. I rarely sympathize with the conservatives for the simple fact that most of their spokesmen seem to be the rich, white and upper class. Not only would I be considered to be a bad Christian but I admit when it comes to politics I get heated up real quick and it takes forever for me to cool down. Where most would say its in God's hands I feel the need to point out the things wrong with this world and how we need to change them. I guess I am still lacking patience and need to work on it or just stay away from the subject of politics all together.

I think the problem is more that people tend to think that their way is the 'right' way, and any other way must be wrong. This isn't necessarily only a problem with Christians, as I feel from my experience that a lot of people are like this regardless of religious or political affiliation. I'll bring up one issue that has been seeing a lot of attention the last few years, gay marriage. I think all these Christian fanatics who say that allowing gays to marry will violate the sanctity of marriage are totally ignoring the fact that 1/2 of all divorces each year end in divorce, and doesn't that also violate the sanctity of marriage? Although I tend to be conservative in a lot of my views, I disagree with the right's views on gay marriage. Ultimately it doesn't matter to me who the government allows to marry, none of that will violate the sanctity of MY marriage. Does that make ME a bad Christian? I'm sure some would say so.

I kind of agree with your stand on gay marriage. While I don't condone the gay lifestyle, a marriage is just a state institution in the state's eyes. When Christians divorce and remarry, they're violating God's institution of marriage and it seems far worse to me. If a gay person wants to commit him/herself to another gay person, they can do it with or without state sanction. As a Christian, what the state sanctions or approves doesn't mean that much. What God approves is what matters and since they're not "married" in God's eyes, who cares? Whether the state marries them or not, they're living in a state of sin - just like divorced and remarried people, and people who commit adultery, and so on.

I think people forget that the bible says judgment begins at the house of God (or with its own people) and try to pass it on others without examining themselves. Marriage is certainly a subject I can't jump on anyone else about.

Hi EvanHunter, Religion and politics should have nothing to do with each other. The only people who want it that way are right wing Christians who are mainly fundamentalists, and they want to keep politicians on their side because they want power. I don't see much caring and compassion among right wing politicans and therefore I do't see Christ. Blessings.

very valid point Pose123, seems to be a general lack of compassion, reminds me of the joke I told the other day!

Politics and religion go hand in hand my friend, it's a tricky one. You are entitled to your own beliefs just as anyone else on this planet is entitled to theirs. Funnily enough, last Sunday I complained to my local church about them campaigning through the streets celebrating Christianity whilst at the same time causing an obstacle to traffic and preventing me from visiting my local shop - isn't Sunday supposed to be a day or rest and peace according to the bible? What a contradiction! As I have stated I have respect for their beliefs, as they should respect mine. However, I wouldn't go parading in the streets trying to make everyone around me aware of my religion, it's unfair on them and the church should have that respect just the same. However, they proved to me that they don't.

i think if you are a good human there is no need to be certified by any community or any other man from a specific religion. If there is a god. He knows everything. He knows who is right and who is wrong. He will not follow the people. He will directly see your karma and if they are good you will really on the path of god. You do not need any certificate really from any religion for a good human.

We have this what we call FAITH in Christianity. I don't think your a BAD Christian, because you are not a Christian at all, so why will you consider yourself? A Christian is someone who believe and has Faith. And I think you don't have those. I do respect what you are pointing here. So please have respect for those people who respect you. thank you. And my God touch you soul.

I have more faith than you know but faith alone is not enough in my opinion we aren't only to be hearers of the word but doers also.
