Hi there mylotters. Not all the time we find many interesting discussions here in mylot. When that time comes what do you do instead?

If I want to find something intresting for me to write about and there is nothing fresh and new that appeals to me... then I normally do a discussion search on a topic of my choice, and find an old discussion to respond to, or I start a brand new one of my own. Other than that if I decide to leave it for a while and come back here later, I normally get on with somethings in the house, like baking, or cleaning etc, and then have another look to see whats here.

That's what I sometimes do also. Do you still respond to discussions done months or years ago?...I found many discussions made a long time ago that i like to respond to but I am just not sure if I should respond to them.

Yeah, that's what I do too. I try so hard to look for discussions that I can really relate to and know how to answer. Will changing interests help?

So as suggested by someone else you can add more interests. One other thing that I do is read through discussions and responses, when I find responses that paid attention to the discussion and made wordy response, I go to their profile and start looking through their discussions that they have started. Sometimes I will even glance through discussions they responded to. I will also add them as a friends. Finding the right friends on here is key. Oh I also like to play in discussions that the discussion start comes back and comments in the discussion to try and keep it going. One other thing that was mentioned above was whether we earn for responding to old discussions, if the way mylot works is I type I earn, what does it matter if it's an old discussion or a new one? Just curious. Happy Mylotting!!!

I never really thought of doing that yet. Maybe I will. You are right having the right friends would really help us have the right discussions. Thank you for your response. Happy mylotting.

You have to develop the attitude that all discussions are interesting and challenge yourself to come up with a response. If you want people to respond to your discussions you have to respond to theirs even if you don't think the discussion is the most interesting or intelligent or entertaining. Remember, if you are passing judgement because someone has not started a discussion that meets your standards judgement will be passed on you as well by someone else. Not to offend you, but this discussion is not very interesting. To have the best experience on myLot you should visit the "no responses" and "new user" pages and you should subscribe to the myLot digest. You can also use tags, keywords and your interests to locate discussions to contribute to.

@ Canellita, I understand what your saying about answering other discussions and then it's reciprocated, but it doesn't always work that way. If I respond to the same people and they don't respond to mine it just tells me that they have nothing to contribute, it doesn't mean that I won't post to their discussions anymore. I don't agree with posting to post, mylot tells us to only respond to discussions that we have something to contribute to the discussion. If we are only going to say the same thing that 20 other people already said, then we are asked to skip. Not all discussions are interesting, it's not that it may not be a good discussion, just not all have the same interests. Take for instance sports, I hate most sports, it doesn't matter how well the discussion is written or how interesting the discussion may be, since I don't like sports and know very little about them, I really don't have anything to contribute on the discussion. I don't think this discussion was made to pass any judgments, just asking people what they do when they can't find interesting discussions "to themselves" to answer. As always just my 2 cents worth!!!

My point is that there is something that can be contributed to any discussion. There are many discussions that languish in the no responses area. Sometimes it's because of a lack of keywords and sometimes discussions just get lost in the shuffle. People often complain about not being able to find interesting discussions. Just because someone does not relate to something a person makes a discussion about it doesn't mean there isn't something they can contribute to. If I only posted to discussions I found interesting I would almost never post. The more people participate in discussions the more they interact with other members and learn things about them. If a friend starts a discussion on something you're not interested and you've interacted before, you can still contribute. I can go on and on with this, but -- and don't take this the wrong way -- it doesn't interest me that much, lol. I just try and visit discussions sometimes and post something. Participation helps the discussion starter after all.

What i meant about discussions being interesting are discussions that I can relate to and have an idea of. There are some discussions here that have interesting topic but I just could not know how to express myself in that discussion. Thank you for your response even if you dont find this discussion interesting. javascript:__doPostBack('ctl00$cphMainContent$lbStart','')

I usually find at least one discussion that's interesting enough for my taste. What I do is type my response and join the discussion. When nothing else interests me, I go to facebook and play games instead :D

Yup. As long as the topic interests me. It might be funny for those people in that discussion to be reading a new post in their discussion that was started or finished a long time ago, but I don't mind... :D

I often go back over the 'no response' discussions, it is amazing how many interesting discussions there are that got no reponse on their first 'outing' By going back in this way you can reconstruct a decent discussion. It's worth a look.

If I have gone through my emails and have no more friends discussions to respond to I also often end up over on the discussions with no responses.

that's what I did today. I found few discussions of my interest but I wanted to respond to more so I looked over the "no response" discussions. Thank you for your response.

If I don't see anything interesting that I can respond too then I just log off mylot for awhile and then log back in a few hours later and hoping to find new discussions posted that I can respond too. There our some discussions I'll read but I'll never know how to reply so I don't. I feel bad when I do that but what are you supposed to do? I'd feel weird putting down something that doesn't make sense. I try to respond to 10 discussions a day.

Its no that I dont see an interesting discussion at all. Sometimes I only see few discussions that I can answer. And sometimes I am sad because I still want to post responses.

I either think very hard of a new discussion or just browse elsewhere. Sometimes I just watch movies, series or anime.

Do you get sad when you won't be able to work as much as you like because of less discussions you want to respond and if you cant think of any topics to discuss?
