Whether you have a shed, garage, attic, basement, or whatever, there is some place where you store things that you are not using at the moment. Sometimes, you can find that space cramped, but there are still things to be put up there. As of late, I find that I have plenty of space, but that could be I just recently cleared everything out. Other people struggle in finding a place to keep everything. Do you find yourself doing this?

Yes - it all depends upon your desires. Many people have different desires and they keep on going purchasing as per that so for these the space gets consumed and feel short of that. But there are some who plan and then purchase - so for these there is ample space. My experience says that planning and purchasing is best.

Oh, for sure, you have to have a plan for anything. Having a plan is just inviting disaster. Storing your items is no exception for this rule. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks

This used to be a problem but we decided to de-clutter and only have things that we actually use. Everyone seems to have exercise equipment and sports stuff, cooking and household gadgets, they don't use and loads of other things that they bought on a whim and are keeping until they get around to using it - which of course, they don't. Make a rule that you can only bring a non-edible thing into the house if something else leaves!

De-cluttering is a must. A skill that is important, but what most people lack. Still, it is a good that you have pretty much buckled down and had only things that you know that you will use. If only more people did that. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

In my life I have constantly struggled to find enough storage spaces. I bought a Grade II listed old cottage. I wasn't allowed to have a shed in my garden. Even a washing line wasn't permitted. I had a bike and had to keep it in my hall way. I often tripped over it. I have an airing cupboard which didn't have much storage space in it. When I moved to the house I currently live in I was happy with the amount of storage space but not for long. I have a shed in my garden, an under stairs cupboard and a large loft space. I got a handy man to fit in a loft ladder. Now I can open the hatch with a long pole, pull down the ladder and get access to all I have up the loft. There is no more storage space. I often do clutter clearing but have a limited amount of success. I wish I had more storage space.

Yes, I think no matter what, many people wish they had just a little more space. Cleaning can go far in many cases. However, things pile up. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I'm always struggling to find space to store my things. I used to have a 5 bedroom house and now I'm in a 3 bedroom townhome so of course storage space is a premium here for me and my family. I have tried to get rid of alot of my extra junk that I just don't need but it is very hard to part with some items. I have a storage unit that we rent every month but it is getting very expensive to maintain it. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

Figuring out what to part with to make room is the hardest part I think. Deep down, you want to keep a lot of everything. However, realistically, when you think of it, it is hard to keep everything that you want. So there comes a time where you just have to let it go. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

yes your right, theres too many new things to buy and theres only few space for it, we cant just throw those old one we have if we can still use it as we might not use it today but someday we will so we decided to just keep them but sometimes we really have no choice but to give them up just to fill everything inside.

Yes, that is very true. It is very hard to let go a lot of the time. Especially considering it is highly likely that what we let go might be something that we need tomorrow. Believe me, there is always a high probability of this. So we have to not only make space, but carefully figure out what is expendable. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Not so much with clothes, but I have books piled up. Lots and lots of books around my room. Books that I intend to read but have not got around to and books that I have read, but have not sold in a garage sale or donated yet. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

Hi, megamatt. I used to have this problem before. But now that I have thrown away a lot of my clothing, I no longer have this problem. One time, I had so much of stuff until I had to store it in just about one room in my home. It was so terrible. I had so much of baby clothing for my daughters until I did not know where to put them. It was so messy and crowded.

Yeah, once you get around to throwing out everything, you have space. Of course, in a few months, you may have problems again. Its a vicious cycle. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

i used to be organized when i was younger. but when i grew busy with people and work, i just stack things anywhere i can. in the end, i find myself suffocated by the lack of space. but when i clear and organize my stuff, voila!, i have so much space. all it takes is to have things segregated. shelves actually help in maximizing a room space.

When we moved into our new place one thing I was really excited about was all the storage there would be in a house literally twice the size as the old one. Plus we now have a big shop in the back and a little attached garage as well. I was amazed to find that after we moved we somehow managed to fill almost every room, closet and both garages! Now that I've had time to organize things and get individual rooms arranged things are a little less congested and I love how uncluttered everything is compared to our old house. We are definitely fortunate to have LOTS of storage space!

It is very good to have extra storage space. Granted, there is no need to go overboard. Still, every little bit helps. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

In the basement it is always too crowded with lots of furnitures and things for the garden and the stuffs we hardly use so what I am going to do now is to throw everything which might not help me in any way and find more space in the basement for useful things in the house.
@megamatt (14292)

Yes, when it comes to that, its time to throw. Of course, there is a lot of sorting when it comes time for this. Things I know I need, things that I might need, and things that I most certainly do not have any need for. So its a bit more work, at least for me, than throwing things out. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I live in a very small house. Storage space is always an issue. it seems no matter what U can dream up for make more space ends up being futile. It is never enough. It'ss times like these that I wish I lived in a huge mansion. Closets would probably be bigger than my whole house. I go through spirts of throwing things out just to make more space for other things. I am not happy doing this. Now i just try my best to find homes for everything I want to keep. It is a constant struggle. If it was easy, something would definitely be wrong.

I think if a live in a mansion, I probably would have the storage space. Then again, I might have other problems to deal with, as I would likely have the means to purchase more stuff than I can handle. But maybe that's just me. Still, you have to be careful of what you keep and get rid of and sometimes creative. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. I have an old garage and a store room but still things get crowded. I find myself storing items for other members of the family, like old bicycles, washing machines and so on! A regular clear out is the only solution.

Actually, it's quite the opposite for me. XD My room (and my house, for the most part) has many empty spaces. I want to put something there, but I don't know what.

Excellent, empty space, that's very good. I would actually enjoy that while it lasts. Its very possible one day that you would find yourself in a position that you will have more things that you have space for. Still right now, enjoy the extra space. Thank you for your response. It is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well. Have a nice day and thanks.

I am at the same shoes as you are in right now, my friend. But I also find out that it's not the space that I'm having problems with, it's the time and effort that I should put up with that is troubling me. As you know, a lot of us are working and gets home only to sleep and wake up early again to get back on work. I don't have enough time to fix stuffs and things that I should be tidying up, because there's lot of storage place here at my home. We have a locker room, in which I know everything can be placed inside. Maybe just a help with some friends or family members would do the trick, am just too tired to work up on it alone.. hehe!:)

Very true. Time waits for no one. And moving stuff when it builds up takes time. Even if we try to keep up with it, there are times where we find that everything just hits us at once. Time is everything and there are far too many times when we do not have enough of it. Thank you for your response, it is much appreciated and it contributed to the topic well Have a nice day and thanks.

We currently have storage problems because our home is just a small unit. It's just like an apartment that''s very small, kinda like a room. Since me and my wife are just starting out, we figured we'd take a small space that's very cheap so we can save on buying a house of our own.

I never have enough storage. Store, attic, plastic containers, boxes - it's never enough. My mom loves to keep stuff so they'll pile up in the store. The attic are mainly for clothes and magazines. Those stuff still in good condition but we hardly use them. It's a good thing we hardly buy anything new or I'll have a headache to find a place to keep the new stuff.
