Ryder and Robo Girl

We're seeing some pretty good acting by Emily O'Brien who has adopted an utterly flat effect while playing the supposedly emotionless post-aneurysm Jana. However, it looks like she's getting some feelings back...the trouble is they're all directed towards Ryder. I'm hoping that robotic Jana doesn't stay around too long -- it makes her interactions with Ryder pretty awkward. In fact, I was thinking the other day that this storyline might have been better had Jana not had the aneurysm in the first place. Then she could have had Stockholm syndrome and thus been inexplicably attracted to Ryder...I'm sure she would have been disturbed by that herself if she was in her right mind so it would have been interesting on multiple levels. The way things are going I wonder if Kevin is really giving up on Jana. If he doesn't do anything, it looks like she might spend all their money on Ryder! On the other hand, he seems like a jerk to give up on his wife knowing the incredible trauma she's undergone. He can't be a husband for her, but giving up on her completely when pretty much all she has is Ryder now...that's harsh.

When you think about it Ryder doesn't show a lot of emotion very oftern either. So maybe that is the connection the Jana feels toward him. I hate to see Kevin give up on Jana, but what else can he do? Keep trying to no effect while she mortgages the coffee house and spends all the money on Ryder? Emily is dong a good job of acting but it is already getting old.
