Do you turn on the TV in the morning and leave it on all day?

TV Shows - Mind Boggling TV entertains from morning to night on the TV

There are quite a few shut-ins, mothers of young children, or people who work from home who habitually watch TV all day long. They follow each program, to the extent that their lives revolve around daily developments. Will Sally run away with her new love? or who killed Darlene? This endless entertainment is recreation for those who are lonesome or just busy at home. Do you leave your TV on all day? Do your friends? Which are your favorite programs? Do you watch "The Young and the Restless?"

Well, I am from India so I don't know about "The Young and Restless". I do watch TV but not that whole day, and I don't watch that kind of silly entertainments which you mentioned, here at India these kind of series is made targeting housewives they keep watching that kind of silly entertainment and sometimes working males also do watch that kind of entertainment. They keep talking about something like what you've said, I just hate that kind of entertainment, I think it's just waste of time.

Its entertainment that is totally predictable. The soaps (as we call the series that target housewives) are unreal in their predictability.

Actually, 95% of the time, if I am not watching the TV I have to shut it off or I tend to become very aggravated by it. Plus, I prefer to just browse the internet all day instead, at least I can do a little bit of thinking that way :). And lately most TV shows just seem like a stupid waste of time; I wish TV was the way it used to be :|.

I agree with you on the inability to concentrate when the TV is blaring in the background! Its good for couch-potatoes who have nothing to think about anyway!

Haha, that is for sure. I used to be like that, able to just site in a chair or lay on the couch, staring dumbly at the TV all the time, but something changed, and I am unable to watch it for a prolonged period of time.

Mine is not on all day and I would watch Y&R if it was still on but they took it off a few years ago.....the *expletives deleted*.DOOL is still on and I watch that. It's one of the only daytime constants I have and it's an interest. I live in a remote community and there is not much to do other than housework and more housework. I watch a movie, then my program then the TV goes off till later in the day when I turn it on for the evening. I try to have other routines but I am constantly interrupted pretty well as soon as I start so I have given up on those ideas. A lot of people have Pay TV and the ones I know have it on all day...the same shows playing over and over throughout the week and they don't watch (I guess I just realised why they don't watch...it's because the show is on for the 15th time or something. One young family had a channel on showing gory hospital emergency scenes...with their little kids watching avidly. Another friend puts her child in front of the TV for most of the day. The day I was there was while some law show was on. The law show cut from the courtroom scene to a scene where a woman was rather graphically being violently raped. The child was watching, sitting very still, wide eyed and taking it all in and his mother did not even notice. I had said something previously about her giving the kid sweets to distract him and got a dirty look so I kept quiet. I don't like to visit people these days.

Hello, barehugs! For me it's not true. I watch TV a little, and shut it down as soon as I left. Keeping it all day on is a waste of money, you'll pay a large electric bill and your TV will be broken soon. I only watch news and TV shows on TV, as internet developed fast, a lot of things can be done on the internet, my TV is almost idle now.

Actually most of the time I am front of my computer watching animes. Our TV was always used by my younger sisters most of the time. We know that a TV running for a long time will really consume a lot of electricity. But as long as your happy watching shows or anything that caught your attention it doesn't really matter :D

I think a TV running a lot will add up your TV account. But if you are having fun, who cares?

I don't watch TV very often. However, TV seems to my mom's main entertainment. So everyday when she wakes up, she will turn on TV even if she doesn't watch it. As long as she is at home, TV will be on almost all the time. This is already her habit. I love China

She makes haircut and watch TV also these TV is for visitors.

I am a housewife and I do have the TV on most of the day, but it is usually in the background, while I am on the computer, cooking, doing laundry and housework, etc. I do have a few programmes I sit down to watch and concentrate on like Doctor Who though. (I am in the UK.) I like having the News on a lot, so I can keep up to date with what is happening in the world.

Definitely not! That is a big waste of money and I'm not very fond of watching TV anyway. I have no idea why but it doesn't really appeal much to me.

When you are watching TV, you are spending, rather than earning. There has to be a balance between the two.

The past few months with me being at home pretty much all the time I tend to find that I leave the TV on pretty much most of the day. I completely hate silence when I'm alone. However, it doesnt mean that I always have tv shows on in the background as sometimes I have the radio on the tv or a music channel. Contrary to what a lot of other people have said I dont find it a waste of money as it keeps me entertained and feeling sane! I know a lot of people like me who dont like silence so will always have their tv on...even at night lol! I havent seen the young and the restless but I watch so many tv shows. However, during the day I tend to find a lot of its rubbish so I end up watching repeats of Friends, Smallville, Scubs, Everwood, One Tree Hill, Will & Grace etc.

I don't watch the "soaps" either, mainly because they are so predictable. I'm out working most days so I am too busy anyway!

Hi barehugs, I don't turn the tv in my bedroom after getting up in the morning. I used to this earlier when I don't possess my private laptop. I kept the tv on the whole day when at home. I like music airing the whole day. I feel comfortable to have music when busy with household chores. I usually watched my favorite programs after having dinner in the evening. At the moment I work on my laptop. I enjoy all kind of amusement that I could acquire from internet at the same time. It's really handy listen music and watching tv program online. I really indulge in watching hong kong tv series Happy posting

I can understand why those 2 TV's are on all day. The people come and go, and its something for them to do. The internet is much better entertainment, because it makes you think, and exercises your mind.

Before leaving the room I make sure to look at the TV and the lights if they are still on, will switch off. This is not a good idea, we should try to save power as much as we can, try to use natural light as long as possible and less electricity, this way we will help environment as well as some saving. Go Green.

For me no I never do that it is a BIG waste of money. Actually I don't watch t.v if there is no good or great movies and anime to watch. I do watch some t.v series but only 2 t.v program and it took only about an hour to watch it. But when I was I kid honestly I do watch t.v the whole day because of cable television I can watch lots of anime and cartoons, I really love those kind of tv program. And now that I am kinda grow up I never get hooked on watching t.v I prefer to read manga and watch movie online or surf in the internet and play some online games.

Kids are watching too much TV. It can alter their learning ability and stunt their intellectual growth.

yes i do that, especially when the kids are already in school. i can't bear the sound of silence at home. so what i do is turn on the TV even when i'm not watching just to create a little pleasant noise at home.
