Anyway, i love reality shows, like American Idol or America's Best Dance Crew, but do you somehow or sometimes think that some reality shows are scripted? Like Big Brother or shows like that.

When they first started, I didn't think they were...but they were edited alot. However, in recent years...they have changed so much and are much more popular, that i do think they are more scripted now. Things just don't jive as they say or do something if it wasn't scripted. I watch Survivor and it is so not like it was in the beginning. Now it is all about which female "castaway" can wear the skimpiest bikini (or more specifically .... 3 bottle caps and some string) and which male can be the most onary. They don't show how they "live" but just all the bickering and arguing and s*exual issues and fighting amongest themselves. Getting rather old as far as I am concerned.... glad now it is only on twice a year as I wouldn't watch it if it was more often!

Yes, I think that many of them are. Big Brother, Survivor, many if not all of the "celeb" ones like Kardashins and Kate probably are. Even some of the competition ones like best dance and idol probably are to a great extent.

Yes. All these shows - American Idol especially - have only one type of winner. It's the mass produced bubble gum pop generic sounds the same as 30 other singers style that is selling right now. I can't stand that type of music. Carrie Underwood sounds the same to me as Taylor Swift and as every other artist out there. Their songs are all mass produced and crappy leading me to belive that shows like AI are scripted so the certain "type" of artist can move on repeatedly and other artists - the ones with real talent - fall by the wayside because it's not what "the public" wants. That's why I don't watch crap like that. It's boring and predictable.

Hi brylle: For me, the answer is yes specially after watching so many reality shows. I've realized that the plot and the drams are almost the same: same structure. You can almost predict what's going to happend, who's the bad guy/ girl, etc. I think that almost all the things that happend on reality tv shows like Big Brother are planned. Thanks for starting this discussion. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

I don't think they're "scripted per se, as in giving lines to people, but I do think the producers definitely stage situations to provoke drama. For example, I'm sure they ask a cast member to finish the apple juice (or something) when they know another cast member loves apple juice and was planning to have some, and a fight would break out for the camera.

Oh yeah, I think most of it is scripted. I've heard that if they like something but didn't catch it on camera they make them do it again. There also is some stuff that is so far fetched I really hope it isn't real. I'm not sure about the "talent" TV shows though I'm sure a lot of that is real (I hope).

Hi offkey: I think that when you see some of the scenes that are presented on reality tv shows you must admit that this must be planned because people don't discuss that way if they're spontaneous. It's all planned for the show- even if some of the topics that are shown on reality tv shows are not appropiated for me and in some cases I find them grotesques. Thanks for your answer. Have a nice day. ALVARO.

yep, most of them, especially those reality shows like..hmm.. i can't recall the title.but they are are bit old, about 5 years ago, wherein a man chooses his groom, by dating all the potential groom..and then will choose one out the many she dated, and its has also a counter part wherein a guy would pick his bride at the end of the show.

hi brylle I love American Idol or America's Best DAnce crew too but I have to agree some of the reality shows are very scripted. I really do not much care for that type of programming as it undoes the idea of reality and becomes just another scripted series and pretty boring too.

Yes, for sure. I am not saying all of them are, but I am sure some of them are, at least partly. But there might be spontaneous moments in there somewhere too. Sometimes it is really obvious that it is scripted though!
