Is it me or are the underdog teams playing better than the favorites? Japan and Ghana have shocked me. And today new Zealand! Is this suppose to happen? Your thoughts

Hi! I think that sometimes underdog can steal the show and it is always fun to see the match when underdogs win. It gives a kind of more pleasure that those who we did not expect to win, became the winner. This way (read unpredictability factor) the fun of the World cup will remain alive.

And they outplayed Spain? I suppose. There were other upsets too in World cup, after you start this discussion.

I thought it was a wake up call. If any team thinks they can beat The Ivory Coast, They need to bring their A game and some luck.

It is good to see these nations perform well. Due to the new Jabulani ball most teams are taking time to adjust, so it gives a good chance for these teams to cause an upset or two. Japan's win was really the most surprising of the lot, but then yesterday the Swiss took out Spain and today Greece accounted for Nigeria. Cheers! Ram

I don't see why so many in the world or so obsessed with soccer! Soccer is boring, confusing, the games are long and the fans are the loudest in the world!! They I hear our team for the USA is very good and will make a run for the World Cup! After the last World Cup,which they didn't make it into the second round,I'm not expecting to make any farther then 4 years ago!

Soccer is an acquired taste. If you are looking for hard physical contact and non stop action , then watch hockey and football.Soccer is slower paced but it has beauty too. If you can't see it , that's ok. We who can will enjoy it.

The Slovakia-New Zealand game was on just before I left for work this morning. It was about the 65th minute and Slovakia was leading 1-0. The commentators were talking about how much improvement New Zealand has gone through by just being down by a goal, considering how badly they were beaten in past world cup matches. So I was even more surprised when I got to the office and learned that they even tied the game! Yehey for the underdogs. Is the US team still considered an underdog? Go Donovan! Go USA!

Yes , The U.S. is considered an underdog. We aren't mentioned when they talk about Brazil, France , or Italy , or even Germany. It happened in the last minutes. The Kiwis tied it up! I had just turned it on in time to see it!
