Yes, kids should never stop learning. Make sure they have interesting books and stuff to keep them learning and give them some little projects to do that you could mark for them for some reward. Kids can never learn too much as it is far easier to do your learning while you are young.

Hi indahfth~ Are you referring to the Summer break or vacation that the children have now or some other holiday in your Country? I do understand that you want your children to keep learning during the holiday. Some parents take their children to places like museums or places like that where they can learn while maybe also enjoying themselves. It is hard for me to say since I have no children and can only go by what I see others or friends have done. They take their children to places that are fun, yet they can learn things too. Maybe you can try that, but since I am not privy to your Country I think you would be better able to decide that~

i don't have a child yet but in the future i want my kids to enjoy as well as learn things..i don't suggest that kids should study during their holidays..everyone needs a break..and they are kids..they are suppose to play and mingle with other kids..if you want your kids to learn during summertime..you can simply research a game that they can play where they will learn at the same time..or you can purchase children's dvd shows like Dora the Explorer..it's a cartoon but they can still learn Math and stuff while enjoying themselves at the same time..

it is parents job to see how we can put something precious to learn while the kids are playing or watching TV. I used to watch news with my kids and tell them what to do and not to do or else they can see what people will have if they done a bad things

I understand what you mean, learn to not be read, or with school books. But the play can be used as a tool for learning. Learn as you play, it will be something very fun for the kids. Maybe with the play while learning, children will understand better.

I actually tend to believe that when my daughter is off of school for the summer or for holiday breaks (Christmas, etc.) it is really the prime time for her to learn through experiences. We will take her to the zoo and the museums that are local. We will take family hikes where she can observe things in nature. I think that school is for the classroom learning but as parents we are responsible for the real world applications of those things that they've learned.

Hi,that's common in China now, each parents want their children learn much more than others,in order to fit in the complete in the world. But to a child, the holiday is too important,if force them to study they will hate study one day,at that time force is useless. The most important thing is improve their efficiency, not increase their learning time. The time they should play,as praents, should let them play, when one can play well then he can learn better.Children will be much more smart!

Your opinion absolutely right. if we are too pushy, could make children so hated by learning. I will let my child play, but also still have to learn even if only briefly.

As parents,it is our responsibility to guide the children to engage themselves in constructive and educative activities. They need to learn the value of time; it is our duty to imbibe in them the quality of working sincerely and learning good things from various sources with positive attitude and confidence. I fully support your views. Thanks.

The responsibility of parents to guide their children is no easy task. We must always create a good atmosphere for our children, so children do not do things in vain.

I agree that children never stop learning, even while they are playing.I feel some kids get a bit burnt out during the school term and could use their holidays to recoup and relax a bit, then they will be refreshed to go back in the new term They will still learn things even if they are doing some kind of sports or seeing a movie or going to a museum, any activity thats fun they will learn.I just do not think they need pressure when they are having their breaks to learn, they will learn just having fun things to do.

Yes, you are right, play can become a learning tool. Learning while playing is the perfect solution to fill the holidays, so kids are not tired to learn and learning to be something fun.

hi indahfth even during the holidays whatever yours are where you are, children will learn if you hone in on their interests. Parks, zoos, museums, all are places children like to go ,and they will learn if you answer always the questions they ask. books and magazines also add to ways for children to learn, but make it less dry than the way they learn in school, this time make it fun, and who knows maybe you will learn something you did no know.

Hello my friend, that's every parents' wish to let their children be full of knowledge so they could advance their level of knowing and learning and maybe ahead of some other children in terms of educational capacity. But, we should not force our children if they would just rest and spend their vacation because they should have that after a year of studying..well, for those children who would just take some summer lessons for their own development and fun to stay away from being board at home that's good.We should support them if we can afford to...Nice topic my friend... Mobhomeir here...

Thank you for your response. I will not force my child, if my child did not want to. Children also have the right to take a break from the burden of school.

Yes I want. But my children don't attend school yet. I hope I can watch them to keep learning when they got holidays. I have a doubt I can do this since it's very hard to ask them do everything. Most children now days are more recalcitrant rather than us when kid. Whatever, as a father I will try and let my wife pay attention more to my children.

Yes, children are now very difficult to manage, because they had their own way. I myself sometimes confused overcome my child. But I always tried, to enter the world of my child, so I can understand what my son wanted. Sometimes we need a little beat, so that children can not recalcitrant.

Hi indafth... did you mean studying during a holiday? Yes, I think that is a very good idea but more work and no play could make one boring. let kids have fund once in a while. With playing comes learning.

Hi indahfth yeah even I agree with you that our children must study at least for a few hours even during their holidays.I remember that my teachers used to say that study is a habit and therefore we should not give it up.3 hours a day out of 24 hours is manageable foe any child and we the parents must make it a point to make our wards study for a few hours every day so that they don't give up the habit. What happens if we allow our wards to give up studies is that they find it extremely difficult to concentrate when the need arises.

I'm still not a parent but if ever I already have a children I won't force my child to learn something in holidays. Its up to him/her if he/she wants to try new things. If not then he/she can play all he/she wants. But if its school time then there's no playing until he/she finished his/her studies.

Holidays, though they are planned in a school's scheme of teachings, contain the time in number of days those are to be planned by the student and their guardians! Since, learning is not confined only to syllabus of school, holidays provide an ample scope for every student to learn about society, relatives, environment, places, marketing, varieties of entertainment and games, culture and many important books! This impacts experiencial knowledge over each student that is essential for growth of wisdom! So, I must say that holidays are the main period for every student to learn through their exposure to surroundings and experiences and to grow wisdom, which is well beyond the scope of syllabus of schools! Thanks for this nice discussion and let's hope for better learning of our children through these holidays!!

you are absolutely right. Vacation can be used by children to learn with their environment and learn that are not provided by the school. I am very pleased with your response. Thank you, you have given me an idea to fill my kids holiday.

We have school holidays coming up in a week’s time. The kids have two weeks off and then term 3 will start. They have two weeks off in between four terms and at the end of the year they have around six to eight weeks off. I don’t expect my daughter to keep studying during the holidays as long as she’s been working hard at school. I believe that she is at school for most of the day every day and she deserves to just have fun during school holidays. I usually organise activities for us to do so we can have special time together and I organise play dates and outings with other children her age so no, I don’t expect her to keep learning at holiday time.

you know what?? children do need some physical exercise to stay healthy. and if they will not play they will not stay very fit. they may get fat or some what like this. also while playing they also learn so many things, their mind is active they learn how to handle the pressure situations also they learn how to compete with their opponents too. there are soo many things they can learn while playing. studying is not every thing

Holidays are a well-deserved rest. Kids last day of June leaving the classroom with the feeling that it is waiting for two months leave, during which they will be able to use what ever could. They can go to sleep later, wake up later, can spend a week with relatives and running all day outside with friends. It's such a well-deserved rest after ten hard work at school who want to be enjoyed. And so they actually rehearsed for a relatively important life skill -to separate work and relaxation. Why not ask the children to sit overtextbooks and workbooks, and even they do not remind the upcoming return to school. Hand on heart, and you certainly want to enjoy your vacation. Or perhaps you would also prefer to leave to fulfill their job duties. Would you like to give you every other day called your boss to remind you what you need to do when you come back. Happy Holidays
