When you want a sweet treat...

but you have no money to go buy something, here’s what I did and it turned out to be a delicious help to soothe my sweet tooth. Got Bisquick, some milk, sugar or Splenda and preserves? Make the dough, add sweetener to taste (not much since you’re going to add jelly or preserves). Bake at 425 for 20 minutes. Cool, add some whipped cream if you like…and enjoy. Next time I’m going to add sugar-free jello powder – maybe sugar-free chocolate pudding powder. I’m always experimenting with Bisquick. Sometimes I add garlic and cheese instead of sweets. Another favorite is raisins, cinnamon and sugar. I put cottage cheese in with that and it makes the biscuit nice and moist. Instead of making several small biscuits, I spread the whole gob of dough out in a pie pan about biscuit height. Works well for me. How do you satisfy your craving for a sweet treat on a low budget????

That does sound pretty good and pretty simple. I always have boxes of sugar free instant pudding here at my house so if the budget is tight and I have a sweet tooth I will just make my self some sugar free pudding, usually chocolate. I also always have baking supplies on hand. Peanut butter cookies are really easy to make and I always have peanut butter in the house too so I can always whip up some peanut butter cookies too.

Using what we have on hand -- way to go! Have you ever tried sunflower seed butter? Every store doesn't carry it -- it's a little sweeter than peanut butter. It would also make some tasty cookies. Thanks for the sweet treat ideas.

Another thing you could do is simply get a peice of bread and pour some honey on it. I do that all the time. One thing i really like to do is take a peice of bread, pour honey on it and put raisins on it, then microwave it four about 5 seconds. It instantly gets hot and is super sweet.

Bisquick is a baking mix for making pancakes or bisquits. I'm sure the UK has something similar. All you have to add is milk to make the basic recipe. Your cornflake goody sounds good, too.

hi joyceshookery that does sound so good but alas I am not where I can cook for myself any more. I often keep snack foods here as I often go low blood sugar if I do not have a snack at bed time. I sometimes buy these 100 calorie pudding cups and they give you a nice snack without 'a ton of calories. I have got the sugar free a time or two but for low blood sugar crisis you do not want sugar free anything. I often keep some 'mini bagels on hand and with some cheese or peanut butter make a delicious 'snack too. I also keep hard candy on hand to bring very low blood sugar up really quickly. Also a jar of peanut butter and a package of Ritz or minibagels

There are lots of local chocolates here in our country that are really cheap. So if I'm craving for something sweet and got little money then I just buy those. Its enough to satisfy my craving.

Buy a good jam and pair or mix it with anything!

It seems that does the trick...jam is even good with cottage cheese.
