Have you ever been in a house whose family are christians who doesn't have a statue of sto. nino? I think putting a sto. nino on every filipino house had already become part of our culture. Why always put a sto. nino instead of just a crucifix?

I notice that too. I haven't seen a house of a Catholic Filipino family without having any image of Jesus and Sto. Niño at home. We have Figures of Sto. Niño and crucifix at home which are very old. We also have some pictures of the holy family from old calendars. In my room, I have the image of Christ the king and the image of Mama Mary holding baby Jesus hanging on the wall.

our religious statues were all gifts from my husband's nun aunt (st.clare bolinao) but i belong to those who doesn't own a sto.nino. it's in our culture. we definitely pay respect to icons of our religion. sto nino is a child, i guess parents believed that he will guide every children in ones house.

I've seen some houses that don't have sto. ninos lying around in their living room. I think it's because I haven't explored their whole house yet, haha. Maybe they have one upstairs or in their rooms. I believe this is a part of our heritage. Being religious is what comprises a Filipino family.

Christians don't use images, Catholics do. Yes, it's true most of the houses owned by Catholics has an image of Sto Nino, Virgin Mary and a Crucifix. It's part of our Catholic Faith at the same time, culture is a big influence.

hi there. yeah, most pinoy families would own a sto. nino statue. we have here. but honestly, i just wish there was just 1 symbolic figure in our home. my mother would collect a lot of figurines of the sto.nino. i would tell her that one is enough. but feels offended whenever i try to tell her. so, i just let it. it's her home anyway. this is her being religious.

lol. I wonder until when that tradition will be. I also noticed that with older people. Not that I don't like religious statues. Actually we have one in our bedroom which I really like. Its a wood carving of sto.nino on a small peace of log.

I have been brought up as a Catholic, but you will find no Crucifixes or Sto. Ninos in our house. We have never really liked placing religious figures around the house. What I do have is the golden Buddha, which is actually bronze, that has been handed down by my grandmother to my mother. Its an heirloom piece and I know is quite expensive. But aside from that, there are no religious icons in my house.

We also have a Sto. Niño in our house. When I moved out with my husband, he always reminded me of buying a Sto. Niño in our own house. So when the Lenten Season of 2010 came, we went to Bulacan to have a vacation at my aunt's house and we bought a Sto. Nino at the Divine Mercy Shrine. My husband also had it blessed by the Holy Water during the mass. I think a sto. nino not just adds up to the decors in the house, but it also reminds us always of our faith. btw, we always buy sampaguita after mass for the sto. nino :)

I really don't know why most Filipinos put a statue of Sto. Nino in their houses. To be honest, we have one at home as well. I guess it's a very old tradition that's been handed down from generation to generation.
