I can't get into my AOL mailbox. It's driving me a little bit nutso. Dang it. I'm a little OCD about my e-mail, I admit it. I check it like every 5 minutes. And now I can't get into it at all. Darn it darn it darn it. So here I am posting a meaningless discussion because I can't get at my mail. Are you all as dependent on your e-mail as I am? What do you do when you can't get there? Heck, I usually get in via my phone when I'm not at my computer, and now I can't do that either. Hellllpppp.... Dawn get a grip, go outside, take a walk. :-) How do you deal with stuff like this?

i just take a deep breath, turn on the tv, and watch the next episode of 'Ben 10' while leaving the computer on right next to me and trying again and again to log in...

Hi dawn, Is it only because you can not access your mail that has sent you nutso or something else is working in the inner races of your consciousness? This is, however, a fact that those of us who are addictive to computers and email stuff get sort of frustrated when the system fails you. I am not so dependent on emails like you but when there is similar problem I get grab my mobile and with it try to be in touch with them I am supposed to keep contact. Just cool down and concentrate on other things while you start getting your mails. All good luck.

Oh the only reason I got frustrated yesterday was that I saw two e-mails from friends that I wanted to read and just then my e-mail went down. But it came back up eventually and I survived the horrible experience. :D

OK maybe I was exaggerating a wee bit. :-) But it was annoying and frustrating for about 1/2 an hour. :D

Oh saved then!! T thought you are terribly upset and desolate. This , ofcourse, sends you crazy when you are about to read something on line and suddenly they disappear. Like anti climax.

Don't use AOL! There are many other, better web based email services.

I worked tech support for an American Internet provider back when I worked in a call centre. People used to call us and complain about AOL a lot. We weren't AOL and we didn't support it, of course. Then people would get REALLY angry. I never understood that. I'd never use it myself. I've had a Yahoo! account for years and have never had a problem.

Dumb that they would yell at you for something that wasn't even your product. I have never had a problem with my Yahoo accounts either, but I do get mail from friends who have had their accts. hacked.

Ha, my friends have their yahoo accounts hacked all the time and hotmail deletes all your mail if you don't log in for a long time. GMAIL is OK. But I've used AOL all these years, my family and friends have my AOL acct., why should I change it now?

It’s a tough one isn’t it? This is a late response so I hope you got to your emails by now! I know how you felt when you couldn’t open your account; it is a really isolating feeling. My husband has been looking into ‘naked DSL’ which means changing all our connections to have the phone run through the Internet; doing this will save us a bit of money every month and we would have free phone calls. I have been delaying it and procrastinating over having it done because it would mean being without the Net for two whole weeks! I could not cope! I don’t what I’m going to do…Hope your emails are up and running by now.

It was up and running within and hour or so. I took a long walk and it was back up when I got back. Two weeks? Well, at least I'd have my work computer...

The medical field is doing some research on how to treat multimedia withdrawal symptoms. Usually when I can't access my comp I'll fall back on my reading.

Hi. dawnald. I have went through problems as this too before. With my Yahoo account that is. When it takes so long for the email server to load up, I will get irritated. I will also get so impatient too. I then will just go to another website and give it time to get back to its original condition. If I come back and it has still not changed, that is when I will contact Yahoo Customer Care Department. I hope that your AOL Mailbox will load up much better than it is already doing. This is one of the most frustrating issues to go through when you are online. Ughh!

Yes I depend on my e-mail very much and use it for business as well as personal use so it is essential for me to get my mail. I am not putting down your choice of mail clients or anything but I had very bad experiences with AOL and have never gone back and don't recommend AOL to friends. I use mozilla thunderbird to get my e-mail and sort through it and I love it. I really need a good program to sort my e-mail and keep it in line and thunderbird does that for me. I hope you get yours straightened out because I know how important mine is to me.

I've never heard of that one... As for AOL, I'll probably keep it for my non-personal e-mails and move my friends over to Yahoo...

Right now my computer is on its way to be looked at by my brother the computer programer! Since I picked up a virus over a week ago I have to read my e-mail at work on the work computers! I usually won't or have to work weekends so I won't be looking into my e-mail then. I probaly could do it over my cell but I have not figured how I can hook up to the internet! So my time is limited and it sucks! If I wasn't allowed to use the computers at work I would be screwed!

Ha! You're even worse than me. I even have 6 or 7 active email accounts that I regularly check. And I also get helpless if I can't get in there. I always have a feeling that I'm missing some important email. Anyway, I hope your glitch is fixed by now.

don't worry, it's going to be all okay. I think there is some problem with your browser's history, all you need is to download CCLEANER, run it and delete any browser history. And yeah, do give a + to 'mysterioususer', as she/he suggested you the best software as far as solving those types of issues is concerned.

I know exactly how you feel! I mean, I check my email constantly. I can usually get into it, but on the rare occasion that I can't, I flip out. Since I joined myLot and a bunch of other sites, I get so many emails! So, if I don't check and delete them, I'd have thousands of emails in a week. Yikes!
