I don't know if it's just a west-coast/Pacific thing, but I always encounter storms sometime in the summer.
I just went through one yesterday, lightning and all. I even saw the lightning ignite some fires in the hills, way off in the distance. Sometimes the storms are scary, like hurricane scary with lots of wind, but this recent one wasn't too bad.
I think it's kind of nice to have some rain in the summer time, and to watch lightning (as long as you're far from striking range).

No, the mid-west is also experiencing t-storms and tornado watches and warnings like crazy. We had a bad one today too - trees are down and driving was seriously a pain (and scary). I think it might have something to do with the humidity but I could be wrong!

I live in Florida and it's the time of year where we normally have electrical stormms develop in the afternoons. Some of them stay away but I can still see the lightening they produce streak across the sky...which is very cool. I like the summer storms for the most part. They water the garden for me so that's a big plus in their favor.
